B&B La Signoria Di Firenze
Florence, ItalyLook, I’ve stayed at a lot of places in Florence over the years, and B&B La Signoria Di Firenze is one of those spots that just gets it right. You know what I mean? It’s tucked away on Via Calimaruzza – honestly, most tourists walk right past this little street even though it’s literally steps from Santa Maria Novella station. I actually stumbled across it by accident the first time, following my nose toward the Duomo and getting wonderfully lost in the process.
The building itself has that authentic Florentine charm without feeling like a museum you’re afraid to touch. The owners clearly know their stuff – they’ve managed to preserve all the character (think original stone walls and those impossibly high ceilings) while making everything actually comfortable for modern travelers. The rooms are what I’d call “thoughtfully appointed” rather than flashy – good lighting for reading, proper shower pressure, and beds that don’t leave you feeling like you wrestled with a medieval torture device. Small touches matter here, like the way they’ve arranged the furniture so you can actually open your suitcase without playing Tetris, and the fact that the WiFi works everywhere (trust me, this isn’t always a given in these old buildings).
What really sets this place apart, though, is the location knowledge you get from staying here. The family running it – and yes, it genuinely feels family-run – will steer you toward the good stuff. They sent me to this tiny osteria about three blocks away where I had the best ribollita of my life, the kind of place I never would’ve found on my own. And honestly? Being right in Santa Maria Novella means you can walk to pretty much everything that matters without dealing with the chaos around the main tourist drags. The morning walk to get coffee at that little bar on the corner becomes part of your routine really quickly. The neighborhood has this perfect balance – quiet enough that you’re not dealing with street noise all night (the windows are surprisingly good at blocking sound), but lively enough that you feel like you’re actually in Florence, not some sanitized bubble. I mean, you’ll hear the church bells from Santa Maria Novella, but that’s exactly the kind of thing you want to wake up to in Italy, right? The only minor thing is that parking can be tricky if you’re driving – but then again, you really shouldn’t be driving in Florence anyway. Just take the train in and walk everywhere like a civilized person.

What could be improved: Everything was great!😊

clean towels. In summary a very slick managed hospitality business a pleasure to have experienced.
Breakfast was included and the cafe 10 metres away from the lovely B&B served a substantial early meal of fresh squeezed orange juice , cold glassed water , cup of hot sensational tasting coffee ( second cup was offered )toast and jam , and the best for last 4 mini croissants with different sweet fillings. We enjoyed the 360 degrees view of Piazza della Signoria whilst relaxing and simply devouring the excellent breakfast offerings whilst people watching. Thank you Caffe Pereso with special mention of very attentive waiters Vincento and Valentino. These happy fellows surpassed the expected balance of service levels without you feeling fussed over. They are professionals with exceptional skills.

Expectations exceeded
What could be improved: Only thing that may be an issue for some people is carrying cases up to second floor as there isn't a lift.
What could be improved: The pillows could be a little more comfortable, otherwise perfect!
What could be improved: As all showers in Europe are, the shower was small for my comfort, but definitely didn’t make a big deal.
What could be improved: Nothing
What could be improved: Nothing. No elevators but that wasn’t a problem for us.
