Hotel Description
Look, I’ve stayed at my fair share of places in Siena, and B&B Il Corso is honestly one of those spots that just gets it right. The moment you walk up to Via Banchi di Sopra 6, you realize you’re basically in the heart of everything that matters – I mean, this is the main drag that locals actually use, not some touristy side street. You’ll hear the morning conversations drifting up from the shops below and catch glimpses of people heading to work at the Monte dei Paschi headquarters just around the corner.
The building itself has that worn-stone elegance that you can’t fake – you know, the kind where every step on the staircase has been smoothed by centuries of feet. What really struck me was how the owners managed to keep the historical character while actually making it comfortable for modern travelers. The rooms have these gorgeous exposed beams (and thankfully, proper heating because Siena gets properly cold in winter), and the windows open right onto the street life below. Fair warning though – if you’re a super light sleeper, the morning activity starts early, but honestly? That’s part of the charm. You’re literally living above one of the most authentic stretches of medieval Siena.
What I love about this place is how it puts you right in the rhythm of the city. You’re a two-minute walk from Piazza del Campo – and I mean a real two minutes, not that inflated travel-brochure nonsense. More importantly, you’re surrounded by the kind of local spots that make a difference during a longer stay. There’s this little alimentari practically next door where you can grab actual good coffee and pastries for breakfast, and the owner somehow remembers everyone’s order after like two visits. The staff at Il Corso clearly know their neighborhood too – they’ll point you toward the back streets to avoid the cruise-ship crowds heading to the Duomo, or suggest the best time to hit the Campo when it’s not swarming with tour groups.
I’ll be honest, parking is what you’d expect in a medieval city center (meaning, forget about it), but the train station is close enough that you don’t really need a car anyway. The check-in was refreshingly straightforward – no corporate nonsense, just genuine people who seem to actually care whether you have a good time in their city. The Wi-Fi works, the shower has proper pressure, and the beds are comfortable enough that you won’t wake up cursing your accommodation choice. Sometimes that’s all you need, plus the kind of location that makes you feel like you’re living in Siena rather than just passing through it.

The room was lovely with the exposed beams and the of the balcony was great. It overlooked the street which was nice. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was a good size. The area for guests that provided sparkling or still water, glasses for wine, etc. was a great addition. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

This B&B is centrally located, right on a busy street outside il Campo but you would never know it, it’s so quiet! Breakfast is provided at a cafe next door and is great start to your day, they even do take-away if you have an early train.

The location is THE BEST! You are within walking distance to everything you need in Siena. I was concerned that it might be too noisy being in the middle of everything but the apartment had thick, noise-blocking windows.
Also, the bed and pillows were comfortable, the best we’ve had during our travel in Italy plus Pietro and staff were so helpful! If you are driving to Siena , I highly recommend you book the valet service, it’s just so easy and stress free.Atalija from Brazil (8/10)
Absolutely amazing stay in Siena with the friendliest staff we encountered in Italy. Big, comfortable room, full of character and opening up to the streets of Siena. Modern bathroom and easy check-in process.
