You know what struck me first about Appartamento La Terrazza? The fact that it’s right on Corso Garibaldi – and I mean, if you’ve spent any time in Lucca, you know that’s basically the main artery that cuts through the old town. But here’s the thing that surprised me: despite being on such a central street, it’s actually pretty quiet inside. The walls are thick (thank God for those old Italian buildings), and the terrace – which is obviously the star of the show here – faces away from the street traffic.

The apartment itself feels more like staying at a well-traveled friend’s place than a typical hotel. There’s this lived-in elegance that you don’t get in those sterile chain places. The terrace is honestly what sells it though – I spent way too many mornings out there with my coffee, looking out over the rooftops toward the Duomo di San Martino. You can actually see the campanile from certain angles, which the host mentioned casually during check-in like it was no big deal. The setup is perfect for that whole Italian aperitivo thing too; I mean, you’re a two-minute walk from the good wine shops on Via Fillungo, and there’s something magical about watching the light change over those terracotta roofs with a glass of Chianti in hand.

What really impressed me was how the owner – this super knowledgeable local guy – actually knows the neighborhood. He pointed out this tiny osteria called Da Giulio that I never would have found otherwise (it’s tucked away near Piazza del Carmine, looks like nothing from the outside but serves the best tortelli in town). The apartment’s location means you’re walking distance to everything that matters – the walls for your morning run, Sant’Andrea for the evening crowds, and that amazing little gelateria on Via Santa Lucia that somehow all the locals know about. Parking can be a bit tricky since you’re in the ZTL zone, but honestly, once you’re settled in, you won’t want to drive anywhere anyway. The whole historic center is maybe fifteen minutes wall-to-wall on foot. I stayed there in late September, which felt perfect – warm enough for the terrace but not so crowded that you’re fighting tourists for every decent restaurant table. The 9.8 rating makes total sense when you experience it; it’s that rare place that actually delivers on the promise of feeling like a local, even if you’re just passing through.

Four nights in Lucca, allowing us time to explore Lucca and take day trips to Pisa and Cinque Terre. Great location, convenient walking from the train station. Traffic free quiet street, cafe on the corner, easy walk throughout Lucca within the walls. Also loved the terrace with potted flowers and trees for relaxing outdoors, even though it was a bit cool and windy when we were there.
Comfortable rooms and beds, living room and kitchen. Everything you might need!

What could be improved: No bad news!

An elegant and comfortable apartment Absolutely beautiful apartment that is spotless ,quiet ,close to everything , food ,transport ,supermarkets all the things required ,to make a great stay even better I would recommend a longer stay to take advantage of the lovely terrace . And thank you to the host Luciano , he is a true gentleman helping us with our bags up the stairs ,leaving a welcome gift for us , explaining everything clearly and being accessible should help be required . I mentioned stairs , do not let this deter you we both have knee issues and went up and down several times a day without problem.

What could be improved: It would be a challenge for us to find any fault here .

A really beautiful, calm, immaculate apartment with a flowery roof garden Beautiful, elegant, huge, quiet apartment with a really lovely roof garden! The place was immaculate, kitchen had everything you could need plus a proper espresso maker. The beds were very comfortable, bathrooms sensational… just a wonderful place to stay. It was peaceful to come home after a day exploring Lucca and it was so clean and comfortable that we had a really relaxing stay.

Best apartment ever! The owner lives in the building and it was very easy to get keys, explanations of the apartment devices and of the city of Lucca. He was friendly and well informed. The apartment is the largest apartment I've seen in Italy. It had 2 very large bedrooms (we only used 1), two good sized bathrooms (we only used 1), a huge living room with two large sofas, a kitchen/dinning room that was a pleasure to use air conditioners in each room. Everything one would want or need was available, there is also a very good sized patio. It was close to the beautiful wall around the city and the summer concert area.

What could be improved: Really, nothing, everything was perfect and the owner was very friendly, responsive without being intrusive.
