Apartments Florence – Orsanmichele view
Florence, ItalySo I stumbled across this place while hunting for something actually affordable in Florence’s historic center, and honestly? The Apartments Florence on Via dei Tavolini turned out to be one of those hidden gems that’s way better than the slightly underwhelming 7.4 rating suggests. I mean, you’re literally steps from the Uffizi – and I’m talking about the kind of steps where you can pop back to drop off shopping bags without breaking a sweat.
The apartment I stayed in had this incredible view of Orsanmichele, which is basically Florence’s most underrated church (seriously, most tourists just walk past it). There’s something magical about having your morning coffee while staring at those gothic arches, especially when the early light hits the stone just right. The building itself is old – you know, that genuine Florentine old where the stairs creak and the walls are thick enough to keep out the street noise. Speaking of which, Via dei Tavolini can get a bit lively in the evenings since you’re in the heart of everything, but honestly, that’s part of the charm. You’ll hear the occasional late-night chatter from people heading home from dinner, but it dies down pretty quickly.
What really sold me was the practical stuff that nobody talks about in those glossy hotel reviews. The kitchen actually works – like, you can make real meals, not just heat up instant noodles. The shower has proper water pressure (a miracle in some Florence accommodations), and there’s enough space to properly unpack if you’re staying more than a couple nights. The woman who handled check-in was incredibly helpful about restaurant recommendations, and she steered me toward this tiny trattoria on Via del Proconsolo that I never would’ve found otherwise. You’re also perfectly positioned for those early morning Uffizi visits – I’d walk over around 8 AM when the light was perfect and the crowds were still manageable. Plus, if you need groceries, there’s a decent market just off Via dei Calzaiuoli, and the gelato place on the corner… well, let’s just say I visited more than I should have. Sure, it’s not luxury – the furnishings are comfortable but not fancy, and the Wi-Fi can be spotty during peak hours. But for the location and the authentic Florence experience, especially if you want to feel like you’re actually living in the city rather than just passing through, this place delivers in ways that matter.

What could be improved: There was not anything that we did not like.
What could be improved: VERY noisy throughout the night.
What could be improved: Nothing we didn’t like.
What could be improved: It was extremely noisy at night. Minor issue: the kitchen could’ve used another dish towel or two.
hermoso y tiene una excelente ubicación.
The gelato shop next to the apartment entrance was amazing.
What could be improved: Stairs - It was particularly challenging to climb up the stairs with heavy suitcases and stroller.
Tight spaces, especially for tall people.
Due to the older design and architecture of the house there were several hazards around the house that we had to be mindful about:
- Pinch hazard: My thumb was pinched twice at the entrance door right after the stairs on the second floor.
- Stubbed toe ..
- Stabbing or punchure hazard: There were long nails near the windows to hold the curtains.
What could be improved: the apartment is not insulated from outside noise . it’s a very noisy location but that’s what you get when you are in the centre of Florence. main bed could be more comfortable.
