But man, was I wrong. This place sits in the heart of Lari’s countryside, and once you’re past that unassuming entrance, you’re basically in Tuscan paradise. The 4-star rating feels about right, maybe even a bit modest for what you actually get here.

The thing about this agriturismo is that it feels genuinely lived-in, not like some sterile hotel trying to play farm. I mean, you can smell the olive groves in the morning air, and there’s this constant background soundtrack of actual farm life – roosters doing their thing, tractors rumbling in the distance. The rooms have that rustic-chic vibe down pat, with exposed beams and terracotta floors that actually creak a little when you walk (which I found charming, though light sleepers might want to pack earplugs). Check-in was refreshingly personal – the family running it actually remembered my name and asked about my drive from Florence without making it feel forced.

What really sets this place apart is the location in Lari itself. Most tourists rush straight to San Gimignano or Volterra, but honestly? Lari’s got this incredible medieval castle that you can practically walk to, and the local restaurants – especially that little trattoria down the hill – serve food that puts some of the touristy spots to shame. The agriturismo’s own restaurant is solid too, though I’d recommend booking dinner early since they fill up fast, especially on weekends. Parking’s no issue here (thank god, because trying to park in these hill towns can be a nightmare), and you’re close enough to the main Pisa-Florence route that day trips are totally doable. The 8.4 rating feels spot-on – it’s not perfect, the wifi can be spotty in some rooms, and the breakfast service runs a bit slow when they’re full, but there’s something about waking up to those rolling hills and knowing you’re staying somewhere that actually produces its own wine and olive oil. It’s the kind of place where you end up extending your stay just because leaving feels wrong.
