Agriturismo Bellavista
San Miniato, ItalyLook, I’ve stayed at a lot of agriturismos in Tuscany, and most of them are either too touristy or way too rustic for comfort. Agriturismo Bellavista hits that sweet spot where you actually feel like you’re experiencing authentic Italian countryside without having to rough it. The place sits on this gorgeous hill just outside San Miniato β you know, the truffle town that locals actually care about, not just the tourist traps everyone talks about. When you’re driving up Via Castelfiorentino, honestly, you might think you took a wrong turn because it feels so tucked away, but then you see this beautiful stone farmhouse and you know you’ve found something special.
What really got me was how the family running this place β they’ve been here for generations β treats you like you’re visiting relatives rather than just passing through. The rooms are in this converted farmhouse that’s been updated thoughtfully (thank god, because I mean, original 1800s plumbing is romantic until you need a proper shower). Each room has these thick stone walls that keep things cool even in August, and the views… well, you’re looking out over olive groves that stretch toward the Arno Valley. I spent way too much time on my little balcony with morning coffee, watching the mist lift off the hills. The WiFi actually works too, which honestly surprised me given how remote it feels.
The food situation is where this place really shines β they grow most of their own stuff, and the woman who cooks (I think she’s the owner’s sister?) makes this ribollita that’s better than anything I had in Florence. They do dinner family-style a few nights a week, and you’re sitting with other guests, maybe some locals, sharing wine that comes from literally the vineyard you can see from the dining room. It’s about a 10-minute drive into San Miniato proper if you want to explore the medieval streets or hit up the weekend market, but honestly, once you’re here, you sort of don’t want to leave. The only downside β and this isn’t really a complaint β is that you’ll need a car. There’s plenty of parking, but if you’re one of those people who likes to walk everywhere, this might feel too isolated. For me though, that isolation is exactly what made it perfect. You’re close enough to day-trip to Pisa or even Florence, but far enough away that you remember why you came to Tuscany in the first place.

What could be improved: Bathroom need a renovation
What could be improved: Nothing
What could be improved: There is a public pool nearby and the music can be heard on the property, it's not very loud, but it could still be distracting for some people. There were quite a lot of mosquitoes there, which must have gotten in the apartment past the mosquito net.
His knowledge of Italy was second to none. He was always happy to give advice, directions, lone u his travel books, where to eat for authentic food, and more.
Breakfast time, we were greeted with coffee, a big smile and help always offered, sometimes living with celiac disease can be stressful, but not at this hotel, I was brought GF bread, cakes and muffins, also, cheeses, meats, fruit, plus lots more.
The place is beautifully rustic and very Italian. The views were spectacular and surrounded in olive trees and vineyards. We didn't want to leave and will definitely be only back.
