But that’s exactly what makes it special. The place sits on this converted estate that feels like you’ve stumbled onto someone’s very sophisticated family property, complete with those classic Tuscan cypress trees that look almost too perfect to be real. I mean, the building itself has that weathered stone thing going on that you just can’t fake, and when you’re sitting on their terrace with a glass of Chianti (probably from a vineyard you can literally see from your room), it hits you – this is why people fall in love with this region.

The spa part isn’t just thrown in there for marketing purposes either. They’ve got this whole wellness setup that actually feels integrated into the experience, not like some sterile hotel add-on. The treatment rooms overlook the gardens, and there’s something really grounding about getting a massage while listening to the countryside sounds drifting through the windows. The pool area is where I spent most of my mornings – it’s got that infinity edge thing that frames the valley views perfectly, and honestly, even in shoulder season (which is when I’d recommend going, by the way), it’s warm enough to swim if you don’t mind a little chill. What I appreciated was how they managed to keep the grounds feeling spacious without being pretentious – there are these little nooks scattered around where you can disappear with a book.

The rooms themselves are what you’d expect from a solid 4-star place – comfortable beds, decent bathrooms, and that slightly-too-ornate Italian furniture that somehow works in this setting. Mine had a view toward the Arno valley, which gets pretty spectacular around sunset. The staff genuinely seems to know the area well, too – they pointed me toward this little enoteca in Figline that I never would have found otherwise, and gave me the real scoop on which hill towns are worth the drive (skip Montevarchi, go to Gaiole instead). Check-in was smooth, parking is included and actually convenient, and the restaurant does this thing where they source everything locally without making a huge deal about it. Look, it’s not going to blow your mind or change your life, but if you want to experience that classic Tuscan countryside vibe without dealing with crowds or feeling like you’re staying in a tourist trap, this place gets it right. The 8.3 rating feels about right – it’s genuinely good at what it does, just don’t expect cutting-edge luxury or wild nightlife.
