Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about Villa Il Paradisino? The name actually fits – and that’s rare for Italian hotels that promise paradise. I mean, it’s not some sprawling resort, but there’s something genuinely peaceful about this place that hits you the moment you walk through those heavy wooden doors. The villa sits on Via di Colonnata, which honestly sounds more intimidating than it is – it’s actually this quiet residential street in Sesto Fiorentino where you can hear birds in the morning instead of traffic. The building itself has that weathered Tuscan charm where the stones look like they’ve been soaking up sun for centuries, and the gardens… well, they’re not perfectly manicured, but that’s exactly why they work. There’s jasmine climbing the walls that smells incredible in the evenings, and these old olive trees that provide just enough shade for the outdoor seating areas.

What really sets this place apart is how it feels more like staying at a well-connected friend’s family villa than a hotel. The staff actually remembers your name (I’m talking about the housekeeping team, not just the front desk), and they’ll tell you things like which bus to take to avoid the tourist crowds in Florence – because yes, you’re about 20 minutes from the city center, but that’s honestly perfect. You get easy access to Florence without the noise and chaos of staying right in the historic center. The rooms have this lived-in elegance that’s hard to fake – original terracotta floors that are slightly uneven in the best way, and bathrooms with those deep soaking tubs that Europeans do better than anyone else. The Wi-Fi is solid (I worked from there for three days), and the beds are firm in that European style that I actually prefer now. One small thing – the elevator is one of those tiny old-fashioned ones, so if you’re traveling with massive suitcases, just know you might be taking the stairs.

The breakfast situation deserves its own mention because it’s where you really see the attention to detail. They source pastries from a local bakery on Via Gramsci (the cornetti are ridiculous), and the coffee is strong enough to wake the dead – which you’ll need if you’re planning to tackle the Uffizi that day. The dining room overlooks the garden, and there’s this corner table by the window where you can watch the neighborhood cats have their morning meetings. Honestly, with a 9.4 rating, I was expecting to find some catch, but the only real downside is that it’s almost too relaxing – I ended up staying an extra night just because leaving felt wrong. If you’re the type who needs to be in the thick of everything, this might feel too removed, but if you want to experience Florence like someone who actually lives in the area rather than just passing through, Villa Il Paradisino gets it exactly right.

  • Exceptional – Влад from Ukraine – 1 July 2025 (10/10)

The reservation clearly exceeded expectations. Good location, atmosphere, and an unexpected pleasure – the pool. The staff, the owners – everything is great!

  • The host was really welcoming and was very flexible in accommodating a last minute change. – Lynette from United Kingdom – 24 June 2025 (10/10)

Host gave me instructions on where to find the keys to the villa as we arrived very late

What could be improved: There was nothing not to like. The villa was traditionally decorated and the main bedroom had an amazing roof. Beautiful views from the windows.

  • Peaceful stay in stunning villa. – Pauline from Australia – 25 March 2025 (10/10)

The villa is beautifully appointed and well maintained, with lovely grounds we got to enjoy when weather was good. It was an easy walk to get to nearby train station and into Florence. The hiking near the property is also stunning. Thanks very much to Costanza and Maddalena for our wonderful visit.

  • Exceptional – Tina from United Kingdom – 14 October 2024 (10/10)

Absolutely exceptional. The villa is stunning and has everything you could need. The grounds are beautiful and we really enjoyed our time here. We had an incredible meal with the family in their home and the food was excellent. Laura was always on hand to assist with anything we needed and we enjoyed the olive oil and wine made on site that we took with us when we left. Highly recommend with easy access to Florence.

  • We loved our stay and experience at the Villa and hope to come back sometime! – Phil from Germany – 7 October 2024 (10/10)

This was an amazing property with a beautiful garden including 300 olive trees and a incredible vegetable garden.

  • Exceptional – Marina from Canada – 30 September 2024 (10/10)

The location is ideal to reach the center of Sesto Fiorentino. We walked to the center where you can find cafes, a grocery store and various shops. The facility is very old and has kept the charm of its age. The kitchen is huge and very well appointed.

  • Exceptional – Sarah from Australia – 25 September 2024 (10/10)

Costanza and Maddalena were amazing! Could not have had a better experience. We will be back!

  • Exceptional – Mareike from Germany – 22 September 2024 (10/10)

We had a perfect stay here. The Villa is located very close to the city centre of Firenze, you can get there by train in 20 minutes. But when you are there you feel like being on the countryside, it is a large estate in the middle of the city with large gardens where the family grows olives, grapes and a lot more. We had the opportunity to participate in a pizza party and taste a lof of different pizzas made in there wood burning oven, as well as there own wine. If you stay here, you will have the perfect balance between discovering the city and relaxing by the pool and in the gardens.

What could be improved: That we had to leave. We will definitely come back.

  • Very relaxing stay – Danny from Australia – 20 September 2024 (10/10)

It was everything i imagined a classic tuscan villa would be, beautiful grounds, quite, relaxing and interesting all the time. The hosts were very friendly and helpful with restaurant suggestions and bookings, we really enjoyed our stay.

What could be improved: No fault found
