Villa Casa Collina Castelfalfi with amazing salt waterpool & AIRCO & VIP service
Peccioli, ItalyYou know what hits you first when you arrive at Villa Casa Collina? The silence. I mean, you’re tucked away on Via delle Colline per Legoli – which honestly sounds more intimidating than it is – but once you wind up that hillside road, it’s like the rest of Tuscany just… disappears. The villa sits there looking almost smug about its perfect perch, surrounded by olive groves that stretch toward Legoli in one direction and the medieval towers of Castelfalfi in the other.
The salt water pool is actually the star here, though the name doesn’t quite capture it. It’s this gorgeous infinity thing that seems to spill right into the valley below, and around sunset – trust me on this – you’ll want to be floating in there with a glass of something local. The water feels incredible on your skin, none of that harsh chlorine sting you get at most places. The VIP service they mention isn’t just marketing fluff either; Maria (who runs the place) somehow anticipates what you need before you even know you need it. She’ll quietly adjust the air conditioning in your room if she notices you looking warm at breakfast, or suggest the perfect little osteria down in the village that tourists never find. The air conditioning, by the way, is a godsend during those sweltering July afternoons when even the locals retreat indoors.
What really gets me about this place is how it manages to feel both luxurious and lived-in. The rooms have that perfect Tuscan thing going – exposed beams, gorgeous linens, views that make you forget to check your phone – but there’s nothing stuffy about it. You can hear church bells from Castelfalfi drifting up the hill in the evening, and sometimes the sound of tractors working the vineyards below. Parking is easy (which matters more than you’d think when you’re navigating these narrow country roads), and the breakfast spread includes the best local pecorino I’ve had outside of a proper market. The only tiny thing I’d mention is that the Wi-Fi can be spotty in some rooms – but honestly, that might be a blessing in disguise. You come here to disconnect anyway, to sip wine on your terrace while watching the light change across the Val d’Era. It’s the kind of place where you find yourself booking next year’s trip before you’ve even checked out.
