You know what struck me first about Via della Stella? It’s tucked away on this quiet residential street in Valiano – not the kind of place you’d stumble upon by accident, which is honestly part of its charm. I mean, you’re still in Tuscany, still getting those rolling hills and cypress-lined roads, but without the crowds that swarm places like San Gimignano (which is actually just a short drive away if you want to do the tourist thing). The hotel itself sits in what feels like a converted villa, and there’s something really authentic about the way they’ve kept the original stonework while making everything feel, well, actually comfortable for modern travelers.

The rooms have this lived-in elegance that I really appreciated – not the sterile luxury you get at chain hotels, but more like staying at a well-traveled friend’s beautifully renovated country house. The beds are seriously good (I’m picky about mattresses), and the bathrooms have these gorgeous local tiles that probably cost more than my monthly rent. What really got me though was the attention to small details: proper reading lights, enough outlets for all your devices, and – this sounds silly but it matters – really good water pressure in the shower. The staff here actually knows the area too, not just the standard “here’s a tourist map” routine. When I asked about local restaurants, they sent me to this family-run osteria about ten minutes away where I had the best cinghiale ragu of my life.

Honestly, the 9.4 rating makes total sense once you’ve been there. It’s not trying to be flashy or Instagram-perfect, but everything just… works. The breakfast is proper Italian – excellent coffee, fresh pastries, local cheeses and meats – served in this sun-drenched room that looks out over olive groves. Parking is right there (trust me, this matters when you’re navigating narrow Tuscan streets), and the whole place has this peaceful vibe that makes you want to slow down and actually relax. I stayed during late spring when the weather was perfect for sitting on their terrace with a glass of wine, watching the light change over the Val d’Orcia. Sure, you’ll need a car to get around, but that’s true for most of rural Tuscany anyway. If you’re looking for authentic Italian hospitality without the tourist circus – and you don’t mind being a bit off the beaten path – this place delivers exactly what you came to Tuscany for.

  A very nice farm environment Tuscany resort. Very large accommodation, with kitchen, bedroom etc. Chiara and Debra are very accommodating and go out of their way to help. There was just one disappointment, see below.
  
  What could be improved: The shower facility was extremely disappointing. The water came out at one speed-high. The knob was extremely difficult to adjust as to temperature. The water would run cold. I dreaded getting into the shower every day. While everything else was great I would probably avoid going back for this one reason.

  Amazing property with amazing views. Beautiful apartment, very comfortable, with everything you need. Lovely bedding, possibility of meals onsite, wine tasting, cookery courses etc. Beautiful pool and grounds. A hidden gem in Tuscany. Chiara the owner is a lovely person and you can see that she puts her heart and soul into this property and into her vineyard. A wonderful place to stay. We will be back.

  Exceptional! From start to finish, me and my partner were treated with such kindness and warmth from chiara and her team. We've stayed at some lovely high-end destinations/hotels in our time, but via della stella was incredible! The most wonderful holiday we've ever had! The grounds are simply stunning and they've been maintained to a magnificent standard. We strolled through the gardens every day and found something new and beautiful every time. The scent of jasmine flowers in particular, really elevated a beautiful evening. We enjoyed sitting by them with a bottle of wine after dinner. The pool is the perfect temperature for a hot tuscan day and the facilities very clean. We dined in the restaurant on one of the nights, and the food was buonissimo!! The chef really knows what he's doing. Chiara was even kind enough to offer an extra spoonful of surplus dishes after each course. And her wine! Oh my goodness! Delicious! We wish to thank chiara and Deborah for the most magical holiday! We miss you already!
