You know what really struck me about Tenuta Il Corno? It’s one of those places that gets the whole agriturismo thing right without trying too hard. I mean, you’re literally staying on a working farm about 20 minutes south of Florence, and honestly, the drive through the Val di Pesa countryside is half the experience. The property sits on Via Malafrasca – which locals will tell you is this winding road that feels like you’re discovering some secret corner of Tuscany.

The moment you pull up, there’s this immediate sense of… I don’t know, authenticity? The stone buildings have that weathered look that only comes from centuries of actual use, not some designer’s idea of “rustic charm.” Check-in was refreshingly low-key – no marble lobby nonsense, just genuine warmth from staff who actually seem to enjoy working there. The rooms are exactly what you’d hope for: thick walls that keep things cool during those brutal July afternoons, wooden beams overhead, and windows that frame the kind of vineyard views that make you understand why people move to Tuscany and never leave. Actually, I should mention the beds are surprisingly comfortable – sometimes these historic properties skimp on that stuff, but not here.

What really sets this place apart is how it connects you to the landscape without making you feel like you’re roughing it. Breakfast happens on this terrace overlooking their olive groves, and you can actually watch the sun burn off the morning mist while sipping proper espresso. The food is that perfect middle ground between fancy and farmhouse – they grow their own vegetables and press their own olive oil, which you’ll taste in everything. San Casciano is just a few kilometers away if you need supplies or want to grab an aperitivo with locals, but honestly, you might not want to leave the property much. The pool area gets busy around 3 PM when day-trippers arrive, but early morning and evening it’s just you and the cypress trees. Parking is no issue at all – there’s plenty of space, which anyone who’s driven in Italian hill towns will appreciate. The only minor thing is that the WiFi can be spotty in some rooms, but let’s be honest, you’re in the Tuscan countryside – maybe embrace the digital detox. With an 8.9 rating, they’re clearly doing something right, and after spending a long weekend there, I get why guests keep coming back.

  Having the pool was wonderful during a hot weekend. We even had our own “gazebo” allocated, so that we always had shelter. The restaurant on sight had delicious offerings, and staff was very friendly and accommodating. Be sure to book ahead a wine cellar tour and tasting on the castle on sight ahead of time. We were grateful to get a last minute tour. The history, and personal context was captivating, and the wine tasting included tips from the sommelier like no other wine tasting experience we had in Italy. Parking was on site, and room spacious. Nice seating areas outside in the garden.
  
  What could be improved: Our room had a fridge, but I could never get it cold enough to even chill water. There was a funny AC in the room, but no way to easily vent hot air from the hose out unless wedged in an open window, so not very effective. In spite of the peaceful location, there was a road running right by the house in which speeding cars would go down even in the middle of the night. This might not have mattered if we didn’t need to keep windows open to stay cool at night.

  The room size was perrfect and had everything we needed. There was a mosquito net with wooden window door which could make the room pich black so we could sleep in. We had wine tasting at the dinner table and that was the best choice we made. The dinner was very tasty and enjoyable. The veiw was very nice and the kids could play balls at the garden.

  Very comfortable and in a nice quiet rural location. One dinner and breakfast we were the only ones there. Took a stroll down the country lane behind the tenuta and saw some deer and the nicest dog and cat. Loved it!
