First Impressions

Walking up to TAILOR HOUSE B&B on Via della Spada, you’d honestly think you stumbled onto a movie set. The building sits on this narrow medieval street that’s somehow managed to stay authentic while the rest of Florence gets increasingly touristy. I mean, you’re literally a two-minute walk from the Duomo, but the street feels like a secret that locals have been keeping to themselves. The entrance is understated — no flashy signage or tourist traps nearby, just this sense that you’ve found something genuinely special.

Location & Neighborhood

Here’s what makes the Santa Maria Novella location so brilliant: you’re in the absolute heart of everything, but Via della Spada feels residential rather than chaotic. Step out the front door and you can reach the cathedral, Ponte Vecchio, and the main shopping streets within minutes on foot. But honestly, what I loved most was discovering the little wine bar around the corner and that tiny bakery where locals actually queue up for their morning cornetti. The train station is close enough that you’re not dragging luggage across half the city, which — trust me — matters when you’re dealing with Florence’s cobblestones.

The Rooms

The rooms at TAILOR HOUSE B&B feel like staying in a carefully curated Florentine apartment rather than a typical hotel. Each one’s different, but they’ve all got this warm, lived-in elegance that makes you want to settle in for longer than planned. The beds are genuinely comfortable (not always a given in historic buildings), and the bathrooms are modern without feeling out of place. What really struck me was the attention to detail — proper reading lights, enough outlets for your devices, and windows that actually open so you can hear the city waking up in the morning.

The Experience

You know what sets this place apart? It’s run by people who actually care about Florence and want you to experience it properly. The breakfast isn’t some generic continental spread — they source from local suppliers and change things seasonally. The staff genuinely knows the neighborhood and will point you toward that perfect aperitivo spot or the gallery that’s worth visiting before the crowds arrive. It’s the kind of place where they remember your name and ask how your day went when you return in the evening.

Why Guests Love It

Couples especially seem to fall for TAILOR HOUSE B&B, and I can see why — there’s something inherently romantic about staying somewhere that feels authentically Florentine rather than generically Italian. The combination of that unbeatable location with the personal touch creates exactly what you hope for when you’re exploring a city like Florence together. Recent guests consistently rave about the location, and honestly, once you’ve experienced having the Duomo practically on your doorstep while still feeling like you’re staying somewhere with character and soul, it’s hard to imagine choosing anywhere else.

Exceptional The room is very comfortable and has nice amenities. Our best B&B for the entire Italy trip. Close to the train station and town center.

What could be improved: A bit noisy from the streets outside.

Very good stay and a great helpful host! Alex, the host is always ready to help and the location is top tier!
Bed and pillows very comfortable but as I said at the end it comes all to the owner who is very careful and friendly.

What could be improved: When you book it in Booking.com it says it offers the parking space, even when you only filter hotels or B&Bs with parking, but in real life the parking is 6 min away ny walk and you have to pay extra for that. When I first got to know that I was not super happy, but when I saw the location of the B&B it kinda made sense.

Great location, clean and comfortable accommodation with great host Great accommodation in a very good location. Clean and comfortable. The host was very friendly and helpful, he provided a list of recommended restaurants that are a must try in Florence. Would 100% stay here again when coming back to Florence.

What could be improved: Since the window was facing the main street, it got quite loud when opening it.

Perfect location, beautiful space. Central location a mere 10min-walk from Sta Ma. Novella train station. Beautiful, spacious loft. Very comfy bed, SmartTV (not that you’ll have time to watch while in Florence). A plus was the shared laundry room with washer/dryer and detergent! Delicious breakfast just 2 doors down.
Our host Alessandro was very welcoming and helpful! Definitely an address to save for our next Florence trip.

What could be improved: Busy street so it can get quite noisy if you leave window open at night, but if it gets too hot there is AC.
