Plus, you’re close enough to walk everywhere important but far enough from the tourist chaos around Santa Maria Novella. The staff actually knows the area too, which sounds basic but honestly isn’t always the case. They pointed me toward this tiny restaurant on Via Sant’Agostino that I never would have found otherwise.

The only minor thing I’d mention is that if you’re traveling with huge suitcases, the historic building means no elevator – but the rooms are spread across just a few floors, so it’s not like you’re climbing a mountain. Also, parking isn’t right at the hotel (this is Florence, after all), but there’s a garage about ten minutes away that they can arrange for you.

What really sets this place apart is the attention to detail that comes from being genuinely small-scale. Check-in felt more like being welcomed into someone’s home than processing through a hotel lobby.
