Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of places along the Tuscan coast, and Rustico degli Ulivi honestly caught me off guard in the best way possible. It’s tucked away on Via San Cristoforo in Vallecchia – which, let’s be real, most people haven’t heard of unless they’re locals or serious Italy repeaters like myself. But that’s exactly what makes it perfect. You’re about ten minutes from the madness of Forte dei Marmi’s beach clubs, but you wake up to actual olive groves and the kind of quiet that makes you remember why you wanted to escape in the first place.

The whole setup feels like someone’s stylish countryside home that they decided to share with travelers who actually get it. I mean, the stone walls still have that authentic rough texture – none of that fake rustic stuff you see everywhere now. The rooms… well, they’ve got this lived-in elegance that somehow works perfectly. My bathroom had these gorgeous local tiles, and honestly, the shower pressure was better than my apartment back home. You know what really sold me though? The breakfast spread. They do this thing with fresh figs from their own trees (when they’re in season), and the coffee – I’m telling you, it’s the real deal, not some watered-down hotel version. The woman who runs the place, she actually knows the local suppliers and it shows in every bite.

What I loved most was how they’ve managed to feel completely Italian without being touristy about it. The pool area overlooks these rolling hills dotted with actual working olive trees, and in the evening you can hear the church bells from the village center mixing with cicadas. It’s that soundtrack that makes you put your phone down, you know? Parking was easy too – which anyone who’s driven around this part of Italy will appreciate. The staff genuinely seemed to care about whether you found that little ceramics shop in Pietrasanta or knew which beach clubs were worth the splurge. Actually, they steered me away from one of the more expensive places and suggested this family-run spot that ended up being the highlight of my trip. That 9.7 rating isn’t just numbers on a screen – you can feel it in how smoothly everything works without feeling overly managed. If you’re the type who wants to be close enough to hit the coast but far enough away to actually relax, this place gets it right.

  Location near the mountains and easy access by car to forte dei marmi.
  Comfortable firm beds (I'd say ortho firm) and perfect for me!
  Everyone is friendly and polite. All the drivers pass by smiling!
  There is a local pizzeria that's 8 mins walk away serving amazing pizza and foccacce.

  We stayed here for a week and the house was exceptional. 15 mins from free beaches (we visited " La dune" and Kevin beach), nice restaurant nearby called Osteria La Brocca. The house is well equipped, however we did not cook too much. Parking in the patio is also valuable there, as there is not much space in the streets there. The host, Valentina is very kind and helpful and easy to communicate with. We wish, We could have stayed 1 more week there 🙂

  Valentina made us feel very welcome. She even left us a welcoming pack.
  The home was very comfortable and was within a short driving distance to the supermarket, beach and the historic town of Lucca.

  Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt in diesem wunderschönen Haus im Landhausstil sehr genossen. Die Unterkunft ist mit viel Liebe zum Detail und großem Geschmack eingerichtet – von der stilvollen Möblierung bis hin zu den charmanten Accessoires spürt man, dass hier jemand mit Herz gestaltet hat.
  
  Der Garten ist ein kleines Paradies: sehr gepflegt und ideal zum Entspannen oder für Mahlzeiten im Freien. Wer gerne selbst kocht, findet in der gut ausgestatteten Küche alles, was man braucht. Auch die Betten sind ausgesprochen bequem, sodass wir erholt in den Tag starten konnten.
  
  Die Lage ist perfekt, um die Highlights der nördlichen Toskana zu entdecken – sei es Florenz, Siena, Pisa, Volterra oder die beeindruckenden Alpi Apuane. Auch Carrara, La Spezia und die malerischen Dörfer der Cinque Terre sind in kurzer Zeit erreichbar.
  
  Eine Unterkunft, die wir wärmstens empfehlen können – sowohl wegen ihres Charmes als auch wegen der hervorragenden Lage.

  Casa molto bella ben curata con tutto il necessario a disposizione e pulitissima, proprietaria molto disponibile e chiara nelle spiegazioni.
  Camere ampie e ben attrezzate, in una addirittura con un lettino per bimbi e una culla, letti comodi e spaziosi.
  In cucina si trovano posate, stoviglie e pentole per ogni necessità e ciò che serve per lavare tutto sia a mano che con lavastoviglie.
  Nel bagno c'è tutta la biancheria necessaria e nell'ampia doccia una comoda seduta.
  La sala bella grande con camino e TV.
  Nel bellissimo terrazzino si trova anche un lavatoio e una lavatrice per ogni necessità.
  Nel cortile piccolo ma molto funzionale con bellissime piante ornamentali e non c'è anche un angolo relax e un tavolo da pranzo e in piu ci sta anche un'auto parcheggiata.

  Das Haus ist wirklich sehr gut ausgestattet und liebevoll gepflegt. Die Kommunikation war absolut perfekt und wir haben uns gut betreut gefühlt.
  
  What could be improved: Eine tolle Unterkunft, die leider durch den nächtlichen Lärm, Hunde bellen und Mopeds drehen auf, leidet. Unsere Familie hat wirklich schlecht geschlafen. Leider ein Punkt den die Vermieterin nicht ändern kann, sonst würde sie es tun 😀.
