Hotel Description
Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of places in Tuscany, but Podere Terreno alla via della volpaia is one of those spots that actually delivers on the whole “authentic Chianti experience” promise – and I mean that in the best way possible. First off, you’re literally staying on a working estate just outside Radda in Chianti, which honestly feels more genuine than some of the tourist-heavy spots closer to Florence. The property sits on this hillside where you can see rows of vines stretching out in basically every direction, and there’s something about waking up to that view with a proper Italian coffee that just… well, it works.
What really struck me was how the owners have managed to keep things sophisticated without losing that farmhouse soul. The rooms are beautifully restored – think exposed stone walls and those massive wooden beams overhead – but they’ve added modern touches that actually make sense, like really good Wi-Fi and bathrooms that don’t make you feel like you’re roughing it. I stayed there in late September during harvest season, and you could hear the activity in the vineyards early in the morning, which was pretty magical if you’re into that sort of thing. The whole place has this lived-in quality that a lot of newer agritourismo properties try to fake but can’t quite pull off.
Practically speaking, you’ll want a car – there’s plenty of parking and the location gives you easy access to the SR222 that connects all the main Chianti towns. Radda itself is maybe a five-minute drive, and honestly, it’s one of the less crowded hill towns where you can still find locals at the cafés instead of just tour groups. The staff here really knows their stuff about the area too, which made a difference when I was trying to figure out which wineries were worth visiting versus the ones that are just going through the motions for tourists. They pointed me toward a few family-run places that I never would have found otherwise. The only thing I’d mention is that if you’re looking for a pool scene or lots of organized activities, this isn’t that kind of place – it’s more about the setting and the peace of being surrounded by working vineyards. But if you want to experience Chianti the way it’s supposed to be experienced, with that perfect balance of comfort and authenticity, this is exactly where you want to be.

Stunning and quiet location with a lovely host
What could be improved: Very little! Single use sachets for shower products are not very environmentally friendly sadly so would improve thisWonderful visit in Chianti. – Charles from United States – 19 June 2025 (10/10)
We loved the farm and our hostess was so nice and always available. We did the horseback riding that she proposed and we also went to a river to swim ! Loved it
Exceptional – Massimo from Latvia – 30 May 2025 (10/10)
Wonderful place in the hills of chianti. A romantic and peaceful place to relax drinking excellent chianti classico produced by their own vineyards. Cristina is an amazing host who makes you feel welcomed since the first minute you arrive.
Great wine tasting experience with Giovanni, the agronomist who takes care of the vineyards and wine production!
What could be improved: Everything was perfect.Beautiful stay in an authentic Tuscan setting – Nathan from Australia – 29 May 2025 (10/10)
The most amazing stay in the Tuscan countryside. Isolated and surrounded by the beautiful vineyards and hills. Our room was big and had everything we needed. Breakfast is really good and includes fresh cakes, meats and cheese, yogurt, cereal, toast and jams etc and eggs on request. Cristina and her staff are the most warm and friendly people and can organise platters for a picnic, cooking classes (book ahead), wine tastings of their own wines and more. You’ll need a car and can also visit so many nearby towns during the day and for dinner. Spend the little extra and book!!!
What could be improved: NothingThe quiet oasis! – Hiett from United States – 28 May 2025 (10/10)
Our second stay here for many reasons: we really like the property, the owner (Cristina), the rooms, the food and the fellow guests. It is very rural, quiet and beautiful, an oasis of peace while traveling. Many choices exist for rooms and settings. Property has an elevator, and free private parking.
What could be improved: We were sad that Cristina was only present our first and last days. She is a wonderful spirit, never too tired to be sociable.Perfection! – Sarah from United States – 7 May 2025 (10/10)
My hubby and I loved everything about our stay! Spacious rooms, beautiful views, and very kind staff. We especially loved the convivial dinner with the other guests and Christina. We didn’t know anyone when we first arrived at dinner, but we all became fast friends at one long table. We are grateful for the sweet memories made at Podere. We hope to come back! Grazie!

Wow wow wow. This is the ultimative place to experience Tuscany!!! Christina is the best host ever. She helped us plan our trip in the area, tips for wineries, helped us book restaurants and did the wine tasting with us. I highly reccomend to do the wine tasting in the winery of the Podere!!! The location of the podere is great close to great restaurants and villages to explore (and wineries!!). The view arround the house is one of a kind. You need to see it to really understand! We felt in a movie!! Plan some time to stay in the podere to drink wine on the terrace, its an amazing experince. Breakfast is wow. The bread and pastries are made cooked in their beutifull profesional kitchen. The room is comfortable and not fancy, you have everything you need to feel at home. We will stay here again for sure! CHRISTINA THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING!!!
