Look, I’ve stayed in my fair share of Florence hotels, and Pergola35 is one of those places that just gets it right. It’s tucked away on Via della Pergola – honestly, such a perfect street name for a hotel – right in that sweet spot between San Marco and Santissima Annunziata. You know what I mean? Close enough to everything that matters, but far enough from the tourist chaos around the Duomo that you can actually hear yourself think.

The first thing that hit me walking in was how they’ve managed to keep that authentic Florentine palazzo feel without making it feel like a museum. The rooms have these gorgeous high ceilings (actually helpful during those sweltering July afternoons), and the windows overlook either the street or these lovely inner courtyards where you can hear the gentle hum of neighborhood life. I mean, there’s something pretty magical about having your morning coffee while listening to the locals chatting in the courtyard below. The beds are seriously comfortable too – I’m talking about that perfect firmness that supports your back after a day of walking on cobblestones. And the bathrooms? Well, they’ve got that Italian marble thing going on, but it doesn’t feel pretentious.

What really sets this place apart is the location knowledge the staff has. They don’t just hand you a generic tourist map – they’ll tell you that the best gelato is actually three blocks away at this tiny place that doesn’t even have a sign, or that if you walk five minutes toward Piazza della Santissima Annunziata (which, by the way, is criminally underrated), you’ll find yourself in one of the most beautiful squares in Florence with hardly any crowds. The Accademia Gallery is practically around the corner, but here’s the insider tip – go late in the afternoon when the tour groups have moved on. You can actually walk from the hotel to the Uffizi in about twelve minutes, though I’d recommend taking the scenic route through the back streets.

The whole neighborhood has this residential vibe that I absolutely love – you’ll see locals walking their dogs, kids playing in the squares, and those tiny alimentari where you can grab fresh bread and prosciutto for an impromptu picnic. Parking can be tricky (it’s Florence, after all), but the hotel can help sort that out, and honestly, once you’re there, you won’t need a car anyway. The rooms stay surprisingly quiet at night, even the ones facing the street, probably because Via della Pergola isn’t a main thoroughfare.

I’ve got to say, with a 9.5 rating, this place has earned every decimal point. It’s not trying to be the fanciest hotel in Florence – it’s just trying to be really, really good at what it does.   The property was beautiful having recently been renovated. It is a relatively large building with a number of different apartments. Very well thought out. Our room was big and very well thought through. The location was excellent for all the key attractions. Florence is beautiful with so much to see. The owner of the facility Lorenzo was a great guy and nothing was too much trouble. He gave us advice as to sights to see and good authentic restaurants. Thank you and well done Lorenzo. There was a lovely cafe next door which was a great start to each day.

  We wee greeted on arrival and all the apartments facilities were explained. The apartment was very clean and spacious with separate shower and bathroom. Full kitchen with utensils, dishwasher and also laundry facilities.
  Lorenzo was very helpful printing off train reservations and information regarding local shops, cafes and restaurants. Would stay again and highly recommend this apartment.
