Palazzo Graziani

You know what caught me off guard about Palazzo Graziani? It’s tucked away on this quiet stretch of Borgo Pinti where you can actually hear yourself think – which, if you’ve spent any time in Florence’s centro storico, you’ll appreciate. I mean, you’re literally a five-minute walk from the Duomo madness, but somehow this little pocket feels like a different world entirely.

The building itself has that authentic Florentine thing going on without trying too hard. It’s not one of those places that screams “luxury hotel” from the street – honestly, I walked past it twice before realizing I’d arrived. But once you’re inside, there’s this lovely sense of being in someone’s well-appointed home rather than a cookie-cutter chain. The rooms have those high ceilings you expect in a historic palazzo, and the staff actually seems to know the neighborhood (the front desk guy gave me this perfect little route to avoid the tourist crowds when heading to the Uffizi). The Wi-Fi worked great, which – let’s be real – isn’t always a given in these older buildings.

What really won me over was the location’s practicality. Sure, you’re close to Piazza della Santissima Annunziata, which is gorgeous and way less chaotic than Piazza della Signoria, but it’s the little things that matter. There’s a proper grocery store around the corner on Via Gioberti, and this fantastic wine bar called Il Santino just down the street that locals actually frequent. The 8.7 rating makes sense – it’s not perfection, but it gets the important stuff right. The breakfast spread was decent (though honestly, just walk two blocks to Caffè Gilli for better pastries), and the AC worked properly during my July stay, which was honestly my biggest concern. If you’re someone who needs to be right in the thick of everything, you might feel slightly removed, but for me? Being able to return to a quiet street after a day of dodging selfie sticks was exactly what I needed.
