Look, I’ve stayed in my fair share of places around Florence, and this spot in Scandicci honestly caught me off guard in the best way. The name “My House for Florence” sounds a bit quirky, but it actually captures what this place is about – it really does feel like staying at someone’s comfortable home rather than a sterile hotel room. The air conditioning works like a dream (and trust me, you’ll need it during those sweltering Tuscan summers), but what really sold me was how easy it was to find parking. Anyone who’s driven around Florence proper knows that’s basically a miracle.

Scandicci gets overlooked by most tourists, which is honestly their loss. You’re about 20 minutes from the city center by tram – there’s a stop not far from Via Sandro Pertini, and the T1 line takes you straight to Santa Maria Novella. The neighborhood has this authentic, lived-in feel where you’ll see actual Florentines going about their daily lives, not just crowds of tourists with selfie sticks. There’s a decent grocery store within walking distance, and I mean, the coffee at the little bar around the corner is better than half the overpriced stuff you’ll find near the Duomo. The host really knows their stuff too – they gave me insider tips about which restaurants the locals actually eat at (spoiler: not the ones with English menus plastered outside).

What impressed me most was how thoughtfully everything was set up. The place genuinely feels like someone’s home – comfortable furniture that’s actually meant to be used, not just looked at, and little touches that show someone cares about your experience. The 9.2 rating makes total sense once you’re there; it’s not trying to be fancy, but everything just works. The Wi-Fi is solid, the shower has proper water pressure, and honestly, after a long day of walking around museums and dodging tour groups, coming back to this peaceful spot in Scandicci felt like a refuge. You know what? Sometimes the best travel experiences happen when you step slightly outside the obvious tourist zones, and this place is a perfect example of that.

  We really liked the communication all the way through, the welcome gifts, the space, high-quality furnishings, lots of cleaning products, recycling possibilities, tupperware for lunches and a washing machine.
  
  What could be improved: The property is a little way out of the centre of Florence. Because both sun shades were broken we couldn't sit out on the terrace.

  I rented the place because it was 15-20 minutes away by car from Florence. It's a quiet area, perfect for families, with friendly neighbors. I can say it exceeded our expectations. The house has two levels and includes all the necessary amenities. The host was very kind and left breakfast items in the kitchen, like pastries and milk. These little touches added great value, showing care for the guests who step through the door. I wholeheartedly recommend it. If I were to return to Florence, I would definitely choose this house again for my stay.
