They’ve done something clever with the layout where the rooms face away from the street, so you’re not dealing with truck noise at 6 AM.

The location is actually pretty genius if you think about it. San Giuliano Terme isn’t trying to be Florence or Pisa – it’s this thermal spa town that locals have been coming to for generations, and being right on the SS12 means you can zip into Pisa (maybe 15 minutes) or catch a train to Florence without the headache of staying in the tourist chaos. I watched guests come back in the evenings looking properly relaxed instead of that frazzled sightseeing exhaustion you see everywhere else. The staff clearly knows their regulars too – there’s this easy familiarity that makes you feel like you’re staying somewhere people actually choose to return to, not just pass through. What really won me over though was how they handle the little things. Check-in was smooth (they actually seemed to expect me, imagine that), parking is straightforward – no circling the block hoping for a miracle – and the rooms have this lived-in elegance that feels authentic to the region. The breakfast setup runs longer than most places, which matters when you’re not on a tour bus schedule.

Here’s the thing about the 8.5 rating – it feels right. Not perfect, because perfection is usually boring, but the kind of place where the few rough edges actually add character. Maybe the Wi-Fi occasionally hiccups, or the shower pressure varies depending on the time of day, but these are the sort of minor realities that remind you you’re staying somewhere real, not some sterile chain property.   We loved the area, very quiet and green.
  The best was the staff, Silvia, Nicola, Marco and the rest, so kind and helpful. We had some good conversations with all of them. We also loved playing with Jerry, the lovely dog of the hotel.

  We stay there because of the electric car charger, which worked fine. The pool was definitely the nicest. Triple Room was very large and comfortable.
  
  What could be improved: However breakfast for a place like this very disappointing. They charged us for cappuccinos! Seriously?! We are in a 4 star hotel in Italy and there is drip coffee and not fresh fruits for breakfast?!

  The staff were amazing, nothing was a problem. Breakfast was excellent and catered for all our requirements. It was a very pleasant stay. Very good location to Lucca and Pisa.

  Our stay was absolutely incredible. I had booked it as an affordable option while we were going to a friend's wedding nearby but the hotel really exceeded our exceptions. The dinner was incredible and to be honest I think under priced, they have an amazing wine list and you have to try the tiramisu, they even construct it at the table on a desert cart, and breakfast was amazing too. The staff were so lovely and accommodating and we just felt so at home at such a lovely little place. The area isn't somewhere I would typically go and visit if it weren't for the wedding nearby but I would love to go again just to stay at Sant'Agata. The grounds are also lovely, with incredible views of the hills behind, and a 5 minute drive or 20 minute walk to San Guiliano Terme nearby which was a really lovely little town. Thank you!
