You know what struck me first about La Valle di Anna? The name literally means “Anna’s Valley,” and honestly, it feels exactly like staying at someone’s thoughtfully curated country retreat rather than a typical hotel. It’s tucked away on Via di Valle in Lastra a Signa – which, let me tell you, is one of those Tuscan gems that most tourists completely miss because they’re rushing between Florence and Pisa.

The whole place has this lived-in elegance that’s hard to fake. I mean, sure, it’s got that 4-star polish, but there’s something genuinely warm about how the staff remembers your coffee order by day two, and the way the morning light hits the breakfast terrace makes you want to linger over your cappuccino way longer than you planned. The rooms are spacious without being cavernous – actually feels like staying in a well-appointed Italian home rather than a cookie-cutter hotel room. What really got me was the attention to local details: the bathroom tiles are clearly sourced from nearby artisans, and the view from most rooms looks out over actual working vineyards and olive groves, not some manufactured landscape.

Location-wise, you’re about 20 minutes from Florence’s centro storico, but here’s the thing – you’re far enough out that you escape the tourist chaos and actually get to experience how locals live. There’s a fantastic osteria maybe a 10-minute walk away where the owner’s grandmother still makes the pasta, and the Saturday morning market in the main piazza is where you’ll find the best pecorino you’ve ever tasted. The hotel’s 8.8 rating makes complete sense when you realize you’re getting genuine Tuscan hospitality without the Florence price tag or crowds. Parking is actually free and easy (trust me, this matters more than you think in this part of Italy), and the staff can arrange wine tastings at family-run vineyards that aren’t on any tourist maps. If you’re the type who wants to wake up to church bells instead of tour buses, and you appreciate when a hotel feels like a discovery rather than a booking.com afterthought, this is your spot.

  Quiet and restful
  Less then 15 minutes to end of T1 line where can park for free at 8 am an by 8:30 arrive in Florence stay the whole day and after dinner take the tram back

  Everything. Location, the property is amazingly well maintained, the views but overall the staff is so gentile and willing to help you. Giada and Edi are one of the kind…but also the rest of the personal (sorry I didn't take their names). A very pleasant stay.

  Excellent location in the countryside but super close to Scandicci and all its amenities and transport networks. My apartment had a little kitchen / fridge etc which was great because I stayed 5 nights for a busy course.
  
  What could be improved: It is very close to the motorway – but this wasn’t a problem for me, you do t notice it after a while.
  The only this which I didn’t like was that my apartment was that I could hear noise from my neighbouring apartment through the adjoining doors – so it didn’t feel very private. I think there is the possibility of opening up the apartment to make it bigger, but since I was solo, I rented only one bedroom.

  I stayed in the studio as I wanted to cook something on my arrival after a long day hiking and driving and it was ideal for this. There's a lovely coffee machine with some coffee pods too. The whole studio room is lovely, very clean and comfortable, the bathroom too, great shower. It is also great to stop on your way back to Pisa, a nice easy direct drive back, within one hour you are at the airport, and there is a great service station less than 15 minutes out to re-fuel if you are returning a car, 'Eni Station' (& Enicafe). The view from the studio room is divine.
  
  What could be improved: It is on a flight path (and motorway) but there is no major or late night disturbance. There is nothing around, for anyone without a car it is not practical. There are steps up to the rooms for anyone with mobility issues, heavy baggage etc. None of these are bad things just things to note. On letting people in the electric gates it would be good to advise them on the intercom at this stage where to park and where to go.

  The place is lovely, quiet (even that you are near main roadway and airport) and there is a lot of chill spots (tables with chairs,…). We loved the swimming pool and our apartment. We stayed only one night but it would perfectly work for weddings or celebrations!

  The property was so beautiful. Amazing views of vineyards and olive trees. A lovely room with a small kitchen and spacious bathroom. Anna was such a lovely host who greeted us with warmth and kindness. Large selection of delicious breakfast for 12€. Definitely will be back!
