Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of places in Tuscany, but La Ripadoro Le Corti di Rivalto honestly caught me off guard in the best way possible. You know how sometimes you book a place based on photos and cross your fingers? Well, this one actually delivers. It’s tucked away in this tiny village called Rivalto – I mean, blink and you’ll miss it – but that’s exactly what makes it special. The property sits on Via di Canapaia, which sounds fancy but it’s really just this quiet country road lined with cypress trees and the occasional farm truck rumbling by in the morning. The whole setup feels like someone’s wealthy Italian uncle decided to turn his estate into a hotel, and honestly, that might not be far from the truth.

What really got me was how they’ve managed to keep that authentic Tuscan vibe without making you feel like you’re roughing it. The rooms are in these restored stone buildings that probably date back centuries, but they’ve got proper air conditioning (thank god, because August in Tuscany is no joke) and the kind of bathrooms where you actually want to spend time getting ready. The staff – mostly locals who’ve been working there for years – seem genuinely happy to see you, not just going through the motions. They’ll remember your name by day two and actually give you decent restaurant recommendations in nearby Cascina, which is about a fifteen-minute drive and has this incredible little trattoria that tourists never find.

The grounds are where this place really shines though. There’s this pool area that feels like it was carved right into the hillside, surrounded by olive trees and lavender that smells incredible in the evening. You can actually hear the church bells from the village drifting over in the afternoon – it’s almost too perfect, except it’s completely real. Parking’s easy (always a relief in Italy), and they’ve got this covered area where you can leave your car without worrying about the sun turning it into an oven. The only minor thing I’d mention is that you definitely need a car to stay here – it’s not walkable to anything except countryside, but honestly, that’s kind of the point. You’re here to disconnect and soak up that rolling hills scenery that makes Tuscany famous. The 9.5 rating makes total sense when you experience it firsthand – it’s one of those places that manages to feel both luxurious and completely unpretentious at the same time.

  Breakfast was excellent – 10/10. Pool area nice. Spacious and clean apartment. Great pressure in shower. Nice towel drier. Kitchen had everything what needed.
  
  What could be improved: One day was out of eletricity ~9:00-17:00, I understand, that it was not their fault, but still we were dissapointed, since also pool area was closed all day + few hours on next day.
  Lot of wasps & other insects in whole area. My kids were bitten several times.

  Beautiful comfortable property for our visit to Tuscany. The rooms were newly updated and very nice. We were early in the season so the pool was not open yet, but you could tell the view from the pool area would be amazing. The restaurant was amazing, and the breakfast was my favorite of our trip! Anna was such a kind and accommodating host.

  Fint och fräscht. Lägenheten har allt du behöver och är mycket fin. Mycket god frukost. Vi åt på restaurangen en kväll – fantastiskt gott och trevligt + mysig atmosfär.
  
  What could be improved: Poolen kunde varit öppen så man kan simma före frukost (frukost startar 8:30). Det hade varit bra att veta att det är minst 20 minuter med bil till närmaste mataffär.

  Het ruime, frisse appartement, 2 slaapkamers, apart toilet met wastafel, eigen terras, en het fantastische zwembad. Uitstekend ontbijt en heerlijk gegeten in het restaurant La Ripadoro.
