You know what struck me first about La Rimessa? The name actually means “the shed” in Italian, which sounds totally unromantic until you realize this place used to be some kind of agricultural building that’s been transformed into something honestly magical. It’s tucked away on Via Pozzolo in Montaione – and I mean really tucked away, you’ll probably miss the turn the first time like I did. But that’s part of the charm, honestly. This isn’t some cookie-cutter hotel chain; it’s more like staying at your incredibly stylish Italian friend’s countryside retreat, assuming your friend has impeccable taste and a serious eye for design.

The whole “Dream Holiday Home” part of the name isn’t just marketing fluff – they really nailed that feeling where you’re not quite sure if you’re a guest or if you somehow inherited this gorgeous property from a long-lost relative. The restoration work is just… well, it’s the kind of thing that makes you want to tear down your own house and start over. They kept all the character of the original structure but added these modern touches that feel completely natural, not forced. The rooms have this perfect balance of rustic Tuscan elements and contemporary comfort that somehow doesn’t feel like they’re trying too hard. And the silence at night? Incredible. You’re far enough from the main roads that the only sounds are crickets and maybe the occasional owl – though if you’re a light sleeper, those church bells in the morning will definitely wake you up, but honestly, it’s kind of lovely.

What really sets this place apart is how the owners – and I’m pretty sure they live nearby because they seem to know everyone in town – have created this experience that feels authentically Tuscan without being cheesy about it. The breakfast spread uses ingredients from local farms, and I mean you can literally see some of the olive groves from your window. Montaione itself is this perfectly preserved medieval hill town that tourists somehow haven’t completely overrun yet, probably because it’s not on the main Florence-Siena route. You can walk into the village center in maybe fifteen minutes, grab supplies at the little market, or just sit in the piazza with a coffee and watch the old guys play cards. The hiking trails around here are fantastic if you’re into that sort of thing, and San Gimignano is close enough for a day trip but far enough away that you’re not dealing with tour buses rumbling past. I mean, with a 9.8 rating, you’d expect it to be good, but this place genuinely surprised me – it’s the kind of spot where you start planning your return visit before you’ve even checked out.

  The location is absolutely great: on top of a hill which is higher than the surrounding ones, from where you can see vineyards and olive trees and the beautiful city of Montaione.
  The property is very big and well maintained and the animals have plenty of space and look very well maintained as well.
  The pool area is nice and clean.
  There are a few houses on the property and they all look very nice and typical for Tuscany. Distance between them is ok so you have privacy. At the moment of our visit we were lucky to be the only ones so we had a very quiet and peaceful time.
  We stayed in a 4 bed-room villa which had all we needed: 4 nice bathrooms, one living room with an open space kitchen fully equipped. There are a lot of areas outside where you can spend time, all really nice designed.
  They also left us a basket with goodies: coffee, milk, juice, biscuits, tea, jam, wine and olive oil which was nice.
  
  What could be improved: If multiple showers were used at the same time the water pressure reduced a bit.

  My friends and family stayed in the 4 bedroom villa on the property and loved every second of our time at La Rimessa. We now understand why it is called La Rimessa "EXPERIENCE", because it is not just accommodation- it is so much more! The little personal touches of providing a few bottles of their delicious wine, making our baby's cot up beautifully and providing fresh linen halfway through the visit added extra sparkle to our stay. The huge pool and the variety of animals all around the property provided endless entertainment. Our host, Andrea, was absolutely wonderful- excellent communication, always checking in and ensuring everything was ok, and providing us with great recommendations of places to go to see/eat//drink. Cannot recommend La Rimessa more highly, thank you so much!

  No words can describe how amazing this property is! We were 2 families with 10 total people (6 kids) and it was as perfect as could be. Actually, I don’t want to tell how amazing because I want to keep this property a secret…From the animals to the soccer field and paddle court, we were honestly in heaven. Easy drive to Florence and San Gimignano and the rest of Tuscany. Andrea was the best host I have had. we will be back and hope to stay much longer. thank you for everything!!
