The entrance is pretty understated – almost easy to miss if you’re not looking for those small brass numbers – but once you’re inside, the space opens up into something that feels authentically Florentine without trying too hard.

The rooms have that perfect balance of old-world charm and actual functionality that’s surprisingly hard to find in Florence’s historic center. I’m talking original stone walls and wooden beams, but also reliable Wi-Fi and air conditioning that actually works (crucial if you’re visiting in summer, trust me). The staff genuinely seems to know the neighborhood – not just the obvious tourist spots, but where to grab good coffee in the morning (there’s a little place around the corner on Via Dante Alighieri that locals use), which restaurants are worth the wait, that sort of thing. What I appreciated most was how quiet it gets at night, even though you’re right in the thick of things. Via del Proconsolo isn’t a nightlife street, so you can actually sleep, but you’re still close enough to walk to dinner in Santo Spirito or hit the bars around Santa Croce without needing a taxi.

The whole experience feels less like staying in a hotel and more like borrowing someone’s well-appointed apartment in the best possible location.
