You know what? Il Principino Country Resort isn’t trying to be something it’s not, and that’s exactly why it works so well. Tucked away on Via Profonda in Vinci – yeah, Leonardo’s birthplace – this place has that authentic Tuscan countryside feel without being too precious about it. The moment you pull up the gravel drive, you’ll notice it’s actually quiet here, which honestly surprised me given how close you are to the main road into town. The buildings have that weathered stone look that screams “we’ve been here forever” but everything inside feels refreshed and comfortable.

The rooms are what I’d call “grown-up cozy” – not the kind of place where you’re worried about touching anything, but thoughtfully put together with local touches that feel genuine rather than staged. I mean, the bathrooms are properly spacious (always a win in Italian hotels), and the beds are firm enough that you won’t wake up feeling like you wrestled with a marshmallow all night. What really got me was the view from most rooms – you’re looking out over actual working vineyards and olive groves, not some manicured hotel landscaping. During harvest season in October, you can actually watch the workers in the fields, which sounds touristy but is surprisingly meditative with your morning coffee.

The location is pretty genius if you think about it. You’re literally five minutes from Vinci’s historic center – close enough to walk to Leonardo’s museum and that charming little church square for dinner, but far enough out that you escape the day-tripper crowds. The staff here actually knows the area well too, which makes a difference. They pointed me toward this tiny family-run osteria about ten minutes away that I never would have found otherwise, and honestly, it ended up being one of my best meals in Tuscany. The pool area gets busy around 3 PM when families arrive, but mornings and evenings it’s blissfully peaceful – perfect for reading or just zoning out with a glass of whatever local wine they’re pouring. Check-in was smooth, parking is free and actually adequate (not always a given in Italy), and while the WiFi isn’t blazing fast, it’s reliable enough for staying connected. At an 8.5 rating, it’s hitting that sweet spot of being really good without being pretentious about it.

  Amazing location accessible distances from Florence and Pisa. The staff was very supportive and helpful when our ac stopped working in the middle of the night they offered to move us immediately to a newer apartment. We moved the next day as the kids were tired.

  The location is fantastic, the views are amazing! Everything was clean, the pool included. It has a lovely ambiance. All the facilities are super: great WiFi, insect screens in all the windows, A/C, good furniture at the pool. The staff is really nice and helpful. Not all of them speak English (most do), but they will always try to help you. And there’s always Google Translate.
  We had a very lovely time here and would love to come again!

  A to Z! The staff and owners are awesome. The location is a once in a life time for most of us and the peacefulness is tops in the world. We have traveled the world together, one of our new favorite spots! The city near by had an excellent small train station that you can get to pretty much anywhere easily! Food in the region was great and did i mention the views!

  Location is perfect, right in the heart of vineyards, dream pool. House is spacious and comfortably fits 5 people. Great free parking space. Staff was always available to help.
  
  What could be improved: Housekeeping and laundry service needs a touch up. Kitchen appliances were not well cleaned, towels were delivered with stains.

  Everything!
  Just go, you'll love it. We were so lucky to somehow be the only ones there. Our apartment was perfect, very clean, AC in the living area and the bedroom. Outside area to eat meals was perfect, the views!
  The pool was wonderful!!! Just what we needed in the heat after a week walking around cities.
  The staff were great, if you don't speak Italian then using Google translate may be good if you have anything tricky to ask. Oh, and try the wine they make. You'll be very happy you did. An absolute slice of tuscan paradise. We'll be back.
  
  What could be improved: Nothing the place was perfect. A note for those visiting without a car (like us) I'd recommend the local taxi service, they are wonderful!
