Il Fiorino di Badia Overview

First Impressions

Tucked away on a quiet country road in the heart of Chianti, Il Fiorino di Badia feels like stumbling upon a well-kept secret. This four-star boutique property sits just minutes from the historic Badia a Passignano abbey, and honestly, the setting couldn’t be more perfect if you tried. The moment you pull up the gravel drive, you’re surrounded by rolling vineyards and that golden Tuscan light that makes everything look like a postcard. I mean, couples absolutely adore this spot — they’ve rated the location 9.6 out of 10, and after spending time here, I totally get why.

The Setting

What really sets this place apart is how it captures authentic Tuscany without feeling touristy. You’re in Badia A Passignano, which is essentially wine country central — Antinori’s famous cellars are literally a five-minute walk away. The hotel itself has this understated elegance that feels more like staying at a sophisticated friend’s country house than a typical hotel. There’s free private parking right on site, which is actually a bigger deal than you might think when you’re navigating these narrow Tuscan roads with a rental car.

Your Room Experience

The accommodations here strike that perfect balance between rustic charm and modern comfort. Each room feels thoughtfully designed rather than cookie-cutter — you’ll find original stone walls paired with contemporary furnishings that actually work together. The views from most rooms look out over either the vineyards or the medieval abbey, and there’s something pretty magical about waking up to that scenery. The bathrooms are well-appointed without being flashy, and you know what? Sometimes that’s exactly what you want after a day of wine tasting.

Morning Rituals

Breakfast here leans into the Italian approach — quality over quantity, with local ingredients taking center stage. They offer traditional Italian breakfast options, and if you’re planning an early morning excursion (maybe to beat the crowds at nearby wineries), they’ll prepare breakfast to go. It’s these little thoughtful touches that make the difference. The breakfast area overlooks the gardens, and honestly, lingering over your cappuccino while planning your day feels like part of the Tuscan experience itself.

Why Guests Love It

With a 9.2 overall rating, Il Fiorino di Badia clearly knows what it’s doing. What guests consistently rave about is the authentic atmosphere — you’re staying in real wine country, not some manufactured version of it. The staff understands the area intimately and can point you toward family-run wineries and hidden trattorias that you’d never find on your own. Plus, the location gives you easy access to both Greve in Chianti and the broader Chianti Classico region, so you can explore without feeling rushed. It’s the kind of place where you actually want to spend time at the hotel, not just use it as a place to crash between sightseeing.

Early hotels booking in Tuscany secures Vespa vineyard tours, private Uffizi guides, and sunset hot air balloons.

The host, Bianca greeted us after a long day riding our bikes from Florence. She showed us to our room and made us feel welcome. She prepared a pasta dinner for us and plate of meat and cheese. We enjoyed a bottle of the estate wine and felt right at home. The view from the deck outside our room was exceptional.
