You know what caught me off guard about I Girasoli di Lari? The name sounds so formal, but when you actually get to this little bilocale apartment on Via Leopardi, it feels like staying at your Italian aunt’s place – if your aunt had impeccable taste and lived in one of Tuscany’s most charming hidden corners. I mean, Cevoli isn’t exactly on the tourist trail, which is honestly part of its appeal.

The Margherita apartment itself is tucked into this quiet residential street where you’ll hear church bells from the nearby parish instead of traffic noise. The whole setup screams authenticity – we’re talking about a proper two-room space with a kitchenette that actually works (I made pasta there twice, no regrets). The hosts clearly know what they’re doing because everything just… works. The Wi-Fi doesn’t cut out, the shower has decent pressure, and there’s this little terrace where you can sit with morning coffee and watch the Tuscan countryside wake up. It’s maybe a 15-minute walk to the center of Lari, where there’s this incredible castle that most tourists never see because they’re all rushing between Florence and Pisa.

What really sets this place apart – and I think this is why it’s got that 9.5 rating – is how it strikes this perfect balance between comfort and local experience. You’re not in some sterile hotel room; you’re actually living in the neighborhood for a few days. The elderly signora next door waters her plants every morning around 8 AM, and there’s a little alimentari down the street where you can grab fresh bread and prosciutto. Parking is straightforward too, which anyone who’s driven in Italy will appreciate. The location is actually brilliant if you want to explore this part of Tuscany without dealing with crowds – you can hit Volterra in about 30 minutes, and even Florence is doable as a day trip. Plus, the sunflower fields (girasoli, get it?) are absolutely stunning in late June and July if you time it right. Honestly, I’d stay here again in a heartbeat, especially during truffle season when the whole area comes alive with food festivals and the weather’s perfect for exploring those winding country roads.

  Stayed in an apartment that accommodated a family of 4. My girls 4 years old loved the pool and the outside porch perfect for evening nightcaps. We had a cozy little apartment outfitted with kitchen amenities.

  I highly recommend this accommodation. The location is very convenient to visit all main sights in Tuscany. The apartments are very clean, lovely furnished, very spacious and equipped with everything you might possibly need. The whole estate/farm is just beautiful, the pool area is also great..reading in a hammock below the olive trees – just wonderful ..we did not want to leave 🙂 the hosts Sara and Filipo are extremely nice and helpful in case you need anything. I also recommend taking some of their self made olive oil back home. Thank you very much, I am sure we will be back 🙂

  We loved staying here! The hosts, Sara and Filippo, are lovely and always available for questions and tips.
  We spent most days relaxing in the outside areas or around the pool. The location is also perfect to explore the cities around, such as Pisa, Firenze, Lucca.

  Ruim appartement met alle voorzieningen. Inclusief wasmachine. Slaapkamer gaf toegang tot een (privé)terras met uitzicht op olijfboomgaard en lavendelveld.
  De hosts waren zeer vriendelijk en spraken voldoende Engels. Prima zwembad bij de lokatie! Goeie uitvalsbasis voor stedenbezoek. Supermarkt vlakbij.

  Die Unterkunft liegt sehr schön einsam, aber trotzdem mit guter Anwendung zur Infrastruktur.
  Für die Ausflüge in die umliegenden Städte muss man etwas fahren. Dafür ist es sehr schön, wenn man wieder nach Hause kommt und dort kann man dann richtig abschalten!

  Wir haben uns in der Unterkunft sehr wohl gefühlt. Die Wohnung ist typisch toskanisch eingerichtet, sehr gepflegt und hat alles was man als Selbstversorger braucht. Die Lage der Unterkunft ist strategisch sehr gut, da die berühmten Städte, Sehenswürdigkeiten und Strände einfach mit dem Auto zu erreichen sind. Sara und Philippo sind sehr freundliche Gastgeber, bei denen wir uns sehr wohl gefühlt haben. Die Anlage, die sehr gepflegt ist, liegt in einem Bio Olivenhain, einem angrenzenden Lavendelfeld und hat einen sehr schönen Salzwasser Pool. Ein Supermarkt ist zu Fuß oder mit dem Auto in kürzester Zeit zu erreichen.
