You’re far enough from the city center to feel like you’re in authentic Tuscany, but close enough that a quick drive gets you to Pistoia’s medieval squares and those incredible churches everyone raves about. I actually found myself taking evening walks through the surrounding hills, something you’d never think to do in a busier tourist town.

The Room Experience

My room had that perfect balance of traditional charm and modern comfort that’s surprisingly hard to find in Tuscany. The furnishings felt authentically Italian without being stuffy, and the bathroom was completely updated — honestly, better than some four-star places I’ve stayed in Florence. What I loved most was the view from my window, looking out over the Tuscan countryside that stretches toward the Apennine foothills. The air conditioning actually worked well (crucial for summer visits), and the Wi-Fi was solid throughout the property.

The hotel’s restaurant serves what I’d call elevated regional cuisine — not fancy for the sake of being fancy, but thoughtful interpretations of local dishes. I had this incredible wild boar ragu that the chef told me was his grandmother’s recipe, and honestly, it tasted like it came from someone’s actual nonna. Breakfast was generous without being overwhelming, with local pastries and really good coffee that kept me going for morning explorations. The staff mentioned they have a lot of repeat guests, which makes sense — once you find a place that feels this genuine, you want to come back.

  One of the best hotels we have ever stayed at. I would really like to give more than 10 points. All the hotel staff were friendly and always professional. The housekeepers in particular were very polite and kind to the guests. The swimming pool was large and well-maintained. Both breakfast and dinner were delicious and good atmosphere so we were able to relax and enjoy our meals. My kids were also very happy with their wonderful stay. I would love to visit again!

  The breakfast was great – it had many pastries, a good choice of meat and cheese, and several coffee machines. Although it seemed that the hotel was full, the breakfast room was never crowded, and I can say the same about the pool. The greatest asset of this hotel is the staff – friendly, helpful, communicative, smiling – they really make a difference!

  The Villa Cappugi was a lovely hotel in Pistoia, short distance from Florence. While we were there in summer, the temperature was extremely high, but the air conditioning in the room was more than adequate. We had a lovely dinner at the restaurant, attended by very nice staff. We did not use the pool, but many families took advantage of the amenity. The room was large with a spacious bathroom, clean and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious, with a large variety of foods. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
