Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about Hotel Ariele? The moment I walked through those doors on Via Magenta, I actually felt like I was in someone’s really well-appointed home rather than just another Florence hotel. I mean, sure, it’s got that 4-star polish you’d expect, but there’s something genuinely warm about the place that you don’t always find in this part of town. The lobby has this understated elegance – not trying too hard, if you know what I mean – and the staff actually remembers your name after day one, which honestly surprised me.

The location is what really makes this place special, though. Via Magenta might not ring a bell if you’re not familiar with Florence, but trust me, you’re perfectly positioned here. You’re literally a three-minute walk from Santa Maria Novella train station (seriously, I timed it), which sounds like it might be noisy, but the hotel’s tucked away just enough that you don’t hear the trains at all. What you do get is easy access to everything – I could walk to the Duomo in about ten minutes, hit the Uffizi in fifteen, and there’s this little alimentari around the corner where the owner, Giuseppe, makes the best paninis for like four euros. The whole Santa Maria Novella district has this lived-in feel that some of the more touristy areas lack, and you’ll find yourself walking past actual Florentines doing their daily shopping instead of just other visitors taking photos.

The rooms themselves are thoughtfully done – mine had these gorgeous original wooden beams (I think I was on the third floor) and the bathroom was surprisingly spacious for a European hotel. The air conditioning actually works, which isn’t always a given in Italian hotels, even nice ones. I stayed in May when it was getting pretty warm, and honestly, I slept like a baby. The beds are comfortable without being too soft, and there’s enough storage space that I didn’t have to live out of my suitcase for a week. One small thing – the WiFi can be a bit spotty on the higher floors, but it’s totally fine in the common areas and worked great for video calls from my room most of the time. The breakfast setup is really well done too, with local pastries and decent coffee (though let’s be honest, you’re in Italy, so you’ll probably want to grab your morning cappuccino at the bar down the street like everyone else does). What I appreciated most was how the hotel feels integrated into the neighborhood rather than separate from it – you’re staying in Florence, not just visiting it, and that makes all the difference when you’re trying to get a real sense of the city.

very good breakfast, good coffee. the room big and comfortable and also quite considering that there were building works in front of the hotel. The hotel is 20 minutes walk from Uffizi museum, a nice walk by the Arno

The breakfast is great it is a little small but good enough. I was not statified with the location of my room as after taking the lift I had to carry by bags half a floor up to get to my room.

Room is spacious and location is good.

Breakfast was great. Location was good, about 15 minutes to the centre, but this was along the river, so a lovely scenic route. Staff very helpful and friendly.

    Fantastic location
We stayed here for 14 nights, Sept to Oct. after reviewing many hotels I chose this and It went beyond my expectations. Everything was fantastic, easy check in with a smile to the spacious modern rooms and a good shower. The breakfast was amazing too, more than you can ask for.

Located in a quiet area so no noise of the hustle and bustle of tourists. Close proximity to anywhere you would want to go – max 20 min walk.

A nice courtyard to sit out at night and enjoy a glass of wine and a cigar.

But what makes this hotel stand out is their courteous and helpful team, who are always greeting you with a smile.

A special mention to Irina and Tilli at the reception, they were so helpful to all our needs and questions. Roxanna and team at breakfast were also very cheerful to take care of any of our breakfast needs. We were also given a complimentary bottle of wine as a thank you.

I recommend this place as it will not disappoint you.
We shall be back in the near future
    Thank you Team Ariele
