You know what caught me off guard about Holiday Home Policleto? The silence. I mean, when you’re staying in a place tucked away in Santo Stefano A Tizzano – this tiny hamlet that most people barrel past on their way to bigger Tuscan towns – you expect quiet, but this is the kind of deep, almost surreal quiet where you can actually hear olive branches rustling. The house itself sits on this gentle slope about fifteen minutes outside the main village center, and honestly, the setting feels more like you’ve stumbled into someone’s well-kept family secret than a rental property. The stone walls are thick enough that even when my neighbors were having what sounded like a pretty animated dinner party, I barely heard a thing from inside.

What really impressed me was how thoughtfully everything’s been set up – and I’m usually pretty picky about vacation rentals after some disasters over the years. The kitchen actually has decent knives (miracle!), the Wi-Fi works reliably even when it’s raining, and there’s this fantastic covered terrace where I spent most mornings with coffee, looking out over the valley. The whole place feels genuinely lived-in rather than sterile, with local pottery and books scattered around, though everything’s clearly been maintained to serious standards. Parking’s right there, which might not sound exciting but trust me, after navigating some of those narrow Tuscan village streets, having your own secure spot is pure relief. The closest grocery store is about a ten-minute drive toward Grassina, and there’s this family-run osteria called Da Beppino maybe twenty minutes away that serves the kind of ribollita that’ll ruin you for the restaurant versions.

I’ll be straight with you – this isn’t the place if you want to walk everywhere or need constant entertainment. You’re definitely going to want a car, and the nearest actual town with shops and cafes requires a bit of a drive. But if you’re looking for that proper Tuscan countryside experience without the tourist crowds, where you can actually decompress and maybe read a book without someone trying to sell you leather goods, this hits differently. The whole area feels like it’s moving at this slower, more deliberate pace, and the house just fits right into that rhythm. Plus, for a five-star rating, the price point actually makes sense – you’re getting genuine luxury and space without the resort markup. I ended up extending my stay by two days because, honestly, I wasn’t ready to leave that terrace.

  this place is amazing! I couldn’t believe my eyest that we were chilling at a gorgeous pool surrounded by olive trees and horses!
  we were the only group of guests so the vast space was only for us! we could have a walk around our farm or just stare at the sunset. the hosts were very kind to answer all of our questions.

  Außerordentliche Lokalität. Genau das, was man von einem Anwesen in derToskana erwartet. Dass wir das ganze Areal für uns hatten, war natürlich eine außerordentliche Begebenheit.Von der auch auf dem Gelände wohnenden Familie haben wir fast nichts mitbekommen, im Gegenteil die Kinder haben sehr angeregt und sehr aktiv miteinander gespielt.
  Daß wir der Familie das Wohnmobil direkt vor das Haus und damit die Ansicht verschandelnd, stellen durften muß auch erwähnt werden. Die Anfahrt mit unserem 7,5 m langen Fahrzeug war jedoch grenzwertig und teilweise Zentimeterarbeit.

  Egen lille oase ude på landet med den lækreste pool, der var altafgørende for en god ferie i den Toscanske varme.
  Super charmerende pergola, der dannede ramme om mange hyggelige stunder med familien.
  
  What could be improved: Huset lå lidt langt ude, så det var nødvendigt at køre i bil i 20 minutter for at komme til nærmeste by.
