You know, I’ve walked past the Grand Hotel Tettuccio dozens of times on Viale Verdi, but it wasn’t until I actually stayed there that I realized what I’d been missing. This place has this old-world Italian elegance that’s not trying too hard – the kind where the marble floors actually creak a little when you walk across the lobby, and the staff genuinely remembers your name by day two.

The location is honestly perfect if you’re here for the thermal baths (which, let’s be real, is why most people come to Montecatini Terme). You’re literally a five-minute stroll to the main spa facilities, and the hotel itself feels like it’s part of that whole Belle Époque scene that this town does so well. The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid 4-star – nothing groundbreaking, but the beds are comfortable and the bathrooms are updated enough that you won’t feel like you’re roughing it. I mean, the shower pressure could be better, but honestly, after a day of thermal treatments, you’re not really complaining about much. What really got me was breakfast on the terrace – they do this thing with fresh pastries that arrive warm, and you can sit there watching the town wake up while sipping proper Italian coffee. The dining room gets a bit echo-y when it’s full, but early morning it’s actually pretty peaceful.

Here’s what locals won’t tell you: the hotel’s restaurant is where a lot of Montecatini residents actually eat for special occasions. That should tell you something about the kitchen. The parking situation is sorted (thank god, because finding a spot on Viale Verdi during spa season is basically impossible), and the front desk staff actually knows the bus schedules to Florence if you want to do a day trip. I stayed in October, which was perfect timing – warm enough for the outdoor thermal pools but without the summer crowds that can make this place feel a bit chaotic. The elevator is one of those old-fashioned cage types that makes you feel like you’re in a movie, though it moves about as fast as you’d expect from something that charming. What really sealed it for me was the attention to detail – fresh flowers in the lobby that get changed daily, turndown service that includes local chocolates, and this genuine warmth from the staff that you can’t fake. Sure, it’s not going to blow your mind with modern amenities, but if you want to feel like you’re experiencing the Italy that drew visitors here a century ago, this place delivers. Plus, the price point makes sense for what you get – it’s not trying to be the Ritz, but it’s doing its own thing really well.

  A lovely Italian hotel, and a beautiful setting. Clean comfortable and everything worked properly.
  
  What could be improved: I wish the air conditioner would have allowed it to be a little cooler. It would be nice to have a bathrobe and access to some thermal springs.

  We loved our stay at the Grand Hotel Tettuccio! Our room was clean, comfortable and spacious. We appreciated the daily turn-down service. Great breakfast included daily with our stay.

  We attended a Wedding at Terme Tettuccio and found the hotel's location fantastic. The room was a good size. The hotel was an easy walk to anywhere within the town.

  Location excellent in Montecatini (lovely park opposite) and for Florence/Lucca/Pisa. Parking facility in hotel ok. Rooms clean, good & spacious
