Domus Nannini SPA – Palazzo Nannini

You know what? I’ve stayed at plenty of places in Siena, but Domus Nannini SPA genuinely surprised me. It’s tucked away on Via Costa dell’Incrociata – which, honestly, sounds more intimidating than it is – but once you find it, you’ll understand why this little palazzo earned that 9.4 rating. The building itself has this quiet elegance that doesn’t scream “look at me” like some of the flashier hotels near the Campo.

What really got me was how they’ve managed to blend the old palazzo charm with actually modern comfort. I mean, you’re sleeping in what feels like a Renaissance nobleman’s residence, but the shower pressure is fantastic and the air conditioning works (trust me, crucial in July). The spa is the real hidden gem here – after spending hours wandering Siena’s steep streets, those thermal treatments hit differently. It’s intimate, not some massive resort-style facility, which I actually preferred. The staff clearly knows their stuff too; they recommended this tiny enoteca just around the corner that I never would’ve found otherwise.

The location is honestly perfect if you know Siena at all. You’re close enough to walk to the Duomo in about ten minutes, but far enough from the tourist chaos that you can actually sleep at night. Plus – and this matters more than you’d think – there’s decent parking nearby, which is basically a miracle in this city. I stayed during shoulder season in October, and the whole area had this lovely, lived-in feeling where you’d see locals doing their daily shopping rather than just tour groups. The breakfast spread was solid too, nothing revolutionary but fresh pastries and good coffee, which is really all you need before heading out to explore. If you’re looking for somewhere that feels authentically Sienese without sacrificing comfort, this place nails it.
