You know what struck me first about Dimora72? It’s tucked into this narrow stretch of Via Ghibellina where you’d almost walk past it if you weren’t looking – but that’s actually part of its charm. I mean, you’re literally a three-minute walk from the Basilica of Santa Croce (the real one, not the touristy square everyone photographs), and honestly, the location couldn’t be better for someone who wants to feel like they’re living in Florence rather than just visiting it. The building itself has that understated elegance that wealthy Florentines do so well – no flashy signage, just beautiful old stone and these perfectly restored details that make you realize someone really cared about getting this right.

The rooms are what I’d call “luxury without the fuss” – everything feels expensive but not intimidating, if that makes sense. The beds are ridiculously comfortable (I’m talking about proper Italian linens here), and the bathrooms have this modern marble situation going on that somehow doesn’t clash with the historical bones of the place. What really impressed me was the attention to sound – you’d think being on a central street would mean noise, but the windows are seriously well-insulated. I slept better there than I do at home, which is saying something. The staff genuinely knows their stuff too; when I asked about avoiding the Uffizi crowds, they didn’t just hand me a generic map but actually explained the best times to hit different neighborhoods based on when tour groups typically move through. That kind of local insight is worth its weight in gold when you’re trying to make the most of limited time in Florence.

Here’s the thing about this place – it’s not trying to be everything to everyone, and that’s exactly why it works so well. The common areas are intimate rather than grand, there’s no pool or gym (honestly, you’re in Florence, go walk), and breakfast is served in this cozy space that feels more like a friend’s dining room than a hotel restaurant. The 9.3 rating makes total sense once you’ve stayed there; it’s the kind of place where every detail has been thought through but nothing feels overthought. Sure, you’ll pay a bit more than some of the generic options near the train station, but you’re getting genuine Florentine hospitality in a neighborhood where locals actually live and work. Plus, you can walk to most of the major sights – the Duomo’s maybe fifteen minutes on foot, and there’s this incredible little enoteca around the corner on Via dei Neri that most tourists never find. If you’re the type who appreciates quality over quantity and wants to experience Florence like someone who actually lives there, this is your spot.

  Location was great however it was not clear until late about restriction on driving which was additional cost..

  The property was well-managed, the facility attractive and spotless. The management was in prompt and frequent communication with us. A cordial tone was maintained. Keyless entry was smooth, and the directions for use were clear and detailed.
  
  The management certainly went the "entra mile" in helping our need to be gluten-free. All in all, a perfect stay.

  The location was ideal for us, quiet yet within easy walking distance of famous sites. The hosts were attentive and provided excellent information, including check-in and check-out procedures, as well as recommendations for cafés and restaurants. The accommodations were clean, modern, and met our preference for non-smoking rooms. The room featured a hanging cabinet and drawers, which helped us stay organized during our travels. The deluxe double room was spacious.
  
  What could be improved: There was no lift, making it somewhat difficult to carry heavy luggage up the flight of stairs.
