Hotel Description
Look, I’ve stayed at my fair share of places in Florence, and Chic Stay Boutique Apartments on Via dell’Ariento is one of those finds that makes you feel a bit smug about your booking skills. It’s tucked right in San Lorenzo – you know, that area where locals actually live and work, not just the tourist bubble around the Duomo. The street itself is pretty quiet, which honestly surprised me because you’re literally a three-minute walk from the Mercato Centrale. I mean, you can smell the leather from the San Lorenzo market stalls when the wind’s right, but in a good way that reminds you you’re really in Florence.
The apartments themselves are… well, they actually live up to that “chic” part of the name. Someone clearly put thought into these spaces instead of just throwing together some IKEA furniture and calling it boutique. The kitchenettes are small but functional – I managed to make decent coffee every morning, though you’ll want to hit Bar Centrale around the corner for the real stuff. What I loved most was how they balanced modern touches with that old Florentine building character. The windows are these gorgeous tall things that let in amazing light, and the floors have that slightly uneven quality that tells you the building has stories. Fair warning though – if you’re on the street side, you’ll hear the occasional delivery truck in the early morning, but it’s nothing compared to staying near the main tourist drags.
The whole experience just feels more authentic somehow. You’re staying where Florentines actually go about their daily lives, not in some sterile hotel district. There’s a tiny alimentari two doors down where the owner, Giuseppe, will set you up with everything you need for a perfect picnic in the Boboli Gardens. And honestly, being in San Lorenzo means you’re perfectly positioned for both the tourist stuff and the real Florence – Sant’Ambrogio market is a pleasant walk through neighborhoods most visitors never see, and you can reach Santa Croce without fighting through the crowds around the cathedral. The 9.6 rating makes total sense once you’re there; it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in the city, but everything works exactly as it should, the design is thoughtful, and the location gives you that insider feeling that’s pretty hard to find in Florence these days.

We like everything in this apartment. High-tech decoration in the room made us feel secure and amazed. The hospitality of Angela is brilliant, she explained everything of the room clearly and also introduced the highlight of Florence, from the historical attractions to the recommended gelato. The location of the apartment just in the centre of the old town, easy to reach any places we want to visit. We had a wonderful stay in this apartment.
