The Chianti Craft House sits right in the heart of wine country – and I mean literally, you’re surrounded by those postcard-perfect vineyards that make everyone’s Instagram feed suddenly look sophisticated. What struck me first was how they managed to keep that authentic Tuscan farmhouse feel without making you feel like you’re roughing it. The stone walls and exposed beams are the real deal, not some designer’s interpretation of rustic.

Here’s what you need to know: this isn’t one of those massive resort complexes where you feel lost in the crowd. It’s intimate, maybe a bit too quiet if you’re looking for nightlife, but honestly? That’s exactly why it works. The staff actually remembers your name after day one, and they’ll point you toward the good hiking trails that most tourists never find. The rooms have this lived-in elegance – think quality linens and proper furniture, not the sterile hotel vibe you get in Florence proper. Fair warning though, the WiFi can be spotty (this is rural Tuscany, after all), but you know what? Sometimes that’s a blessing.

The location is pure gold if you’re serious about wine tasting. You’re a short walk from Badia a Passignano abbey – worth seeing even if you’re not into religious architecture – and the surrounding vineyards offer some of the best Chianti tastings I’ve experienced. Skip the touristy Greve in Chianti crowds and hit up the smaller family wineries within a 10-minute drive. The hotel folks will actually call ahead for you, which saves the awkward showing-up-unannounced thing. Parking is no problem here either, unlike trying to navigate those medieval town centers with rental cars. Pro tip: if you’re planning to explore Florence or Siena, it’s about a 45-minute drive either way – totally doable for day trips, but you’ll appreciate coming back to this peaceful bubble. The breakfast situation is solid too, with local cheeses and proper coffee, not that watery hotel stuff. I mean, at a 9.5 rating, you’d expect them to nail the basics, and they do.
