The thing about staying in Montespertoli is that you’re close enough to Florence (maybe 30 minutes by car) and San Gimignano (even closer) to do day trips, but far enough out that you get to experience actual Italian small-town life. I’d see the same faces at the alimentari, watch the evening passeggiata unfold in the little piazza, and honestly, it felt more authentic than staying right in the thick of tourist central. The owners were genuinely helpful without being hovering – they left recommendations for local restaurants (seriously, try Il Castagnolo if you can get a reservation) and seemed to actually care that we had a good experience. The only minor thing I’d mention is that the building’s old, so you hear footsteps from upstairs occasionally, but it’s more charming than annoying.
