You know what struck me first about Casa Vacanze Rondini Blu? It’s actually tucked away on this quiet residential street in Montespertoli, and I mean *quiet* – the kind of place where you hear church bells in the distance and maybe a Vespa puttering by, but that’s about it. Via Poppiano isn’t one of those main drags with tourist buses rumbling past, which honestly makes all the difference when you’re trying to sleep off jet lag. The building itself has that weathered Tuscan charm – not the glossy, renovated-within-an-inch-of-its-life kind, but the real deal where the shutters look like they’ve been painted and repainted over decades.

What really gets me about this place is how the owners seem to understand what travelers actually need. There’s proper parking (and trust me, finding a spot in these hill towns can be a nightmare), the WiFi doesn’t cut out every five minutes, and – this is huge – the kitchen is actually equipped for cooking, not just reheating leftovers. I spent a morning at the Montespertoli market, which is maybe a ten-minute walk down the hill, and came back with fresh pecorino and those perfect Italian tomatoes that somehow taste like sunshine. The apartment setup means you can spread out a bit, maybe have your coffee on the little terrace while your travel companion is still getting ready. Speaking of coffee, there’s a bar just around the corner where the locals grab their morning espresso – you’ll know it by the cluster of work vans parked outside around 7 AM.

The thing about staying in Montespertoli is that you’re close enough to Florence (maybe 30 minutes by car) and San Gimignano (even closer) to do day trips, but far enough out that you get to experience actual Italian small-town life. I’d see the same faces at the alimentari, watch the evening passeggiata unfold in the little piazza, and honestly, it felt more authentic than staying right in the thick of tourist central. The owners were genuinely helpful without being hovering – they left recommendations for local restaurants (seriously, try Il Castagnolo if you can get a reservation) and seemed to actually care that we had a good experience. The only minor thing I’d mention is that the building’s old, so you hear footsteps from upstairs occasionally, but it’s more charming than annoying. With a 9.1 rating, clearly other people feel the same way about this place – it’s got that sweet spot of being comfortable and well-maintained while still feeling like you’re staying somewhere with real character.

  Very friendly host, excellent airco, fantastic pool for the kids, spacious and very clean apartment. We barbequed both evenings there. Very good wifi. We used it as an overstop to Rome from the Dolomites.

  We came to this property which is located in a nice secluded area of Tuscany. The reception staff who was really nice when we arrived they were making pasta for their family and invited us to join they made extra for us which was really nice. Overall nice location and nice staff

  Its a very quiet and preaceful place, close to Florence Sieba and other nice towns in the area. The landscape around is stunning and there are a lot of winery's around which can be visited. A beautiful get away with everything closs by.
