Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Casa vacanza LA FARFALLA PT on Via Cafaggio – I mean, vacation rentals can be hit or miss, right? But this place actually surprised me in the best way. It’s tucked into this quiet residential street in San Miniato, and you know what struck me first? How peaceful it felt compared to the tourist chaos you get in bigger Tuscan towns. The building itself has that authentic Italian charm without feeling like it’s trying too hard – sort of weathered in a good way, with those green shutters that actually work (I checked).

The location is honestly perfect if you want to experience real Tuscany without the crowds. San Miniato isn’t one of those places that gets overrun with tour buses, but it’s got everything you need within walking distance. There’s this little alimentari about two blocks down where the owner, this elderly signora, will slice your prosciutto paper-thin and recommend local wines like she’s known you for years. The famous truffle market happens right in the main piazza – maybe a ten-minute walk from the apartment – and during truffle season in November, the whole area just comes alive. I actually stumbled upon a small festival one evening where locals were grilling sausages and sharing bottles of Chianti with complete strangers.

What really sets this place apart is how it feels like staying in someone’s actual home rather than a sterile rental. The host clearly put thought into the details – there’s proper coffee equipment (not those awful pod machines), local guidebooks that are actually useful, and the Wi-Fi doesn’t cut out every five minutes like so many places in smaller Italian towns. The apartment gets great morning light, and I loved having breakfast on the little balcony while listening to the church bells and watching the locals head to work. Parking was easier than I expected too, which anyone who’s driven in Italy will appreciate – there’s usually a spot on the street, and the host gives you solid advice about where to leave your car overnight. The 9.4 rating makes total sense once you’re there; it’s one of those places where everything just works, and you feel like you’ve discovered something special that most tourists miss entirely.

  Very nice, friendly and helpful hosts. ❤️ The apartment was clean, equipped with everything you might need. Amazing location, very chill and relaxing ambient. Lovely dog and cats in the garden, pool and sunbeds were nice under the sun.
  Just amazing, I would definitely recommend it, and I personally am looking forward to going back there.👌🏽🥰

  La pace regna sovrana, si ritrova il lusso di rallentare. C’è tutto quello che serve e i proprietari sono persone squisite! Le bambine di sono divertite un mondo con la piscina sempre a disposizione e il nostro cane ha trovato spazi dove correre e rotolarsi.

  Abbiamo scelto CASA LA FARFALLA per 4 giorni di relax e così si sono rivelati!
  I proprietari gentilissimi e disponibili soprattutto con la nostra bimba e la nostra cagnolina! Appartamento pulito e con tutti i servizi utili, abbiamo trovato asciugamani, lenzuola, caffè, te' e biscotti per la colazione fa loro offerti.
  Il giardino con la piscina e un panorama bellissimo, hanno contribuito a farci desiderare di voler tornare.

  Sehr zuvorkommender, nette Gastgeber. Einfacher, aber schöner Aussensitzplatz. Toller Pool mit Lounge und Liegefläche. Abgelegene, ruhige, entspannende Lage.
