You know those little hotels that feel like someone’s elegant home rather than a place that processes hundreds of guests? That’s Casa Ciseri. I mean, when you’re walking down Via dei Pellegrini – which is this narrow medieval street that most tourists miss because they’re all crowding around the main piazza – you almost walk right past it. The entrance is understated in that effortlessly Italian way, like they don’t need to shout about how beautiful everything is inside.

The thing about staying here is that you’re actually in the heart of medieval Siena, not some sanitized hotel district. I could hear the morning sounds of the neighborhood – shopkeepers rolling up their metal shutters, the coffee machine hissing at the bar around the corner, church bells that somehow never got annoying. The rooms have this perfect balance of old-world charm and modern comfort that’s honestly hard to find. We’re talking original stone walls and beamed ceilings, but also excellent Wi-Fi and a bathroom that doesn’t make you feel like you’re roughing it. The staff genuinely seems to know the city – not just the tourist spots, but where to get the best cacio e pepe and which enoteca stays open late on Sundays.

What really struck me was how quiet it gets at night, even though you’re literally minutes from the Duomo. Via dei Pellegrini doesn’t get the foot traffic of the main tourist routes, so you can actually sleep with the windows open and just hear the occasional Vespa puttering by. The 9.8 rating makes sense when you experience little details like how they remember your coffee preference after day two, or how they’ll arrange dinner reservations at places that don’t usually take them. It’s the kind of place where you start planning your next Siena trip before you’ve even checked out – and honestly, given how hard it is to find authentic charm in popular Italian cities these days, that’s saying something.

  The location is absolutely incredible – in the first building from Campo. Apartment is Chic inside with modern bathrooms, beautifully furnished and sparkly clean. Very well equipped with everything you may need including coffee pods. The host is amazing – Cristina stayed in touch nearly for 24/7. She also sent the cleaning lady to clean and change towels in the middle of our 4-nights stay which is very unusual for the apartment . Highly recommended to stay in this beautiful property!
  
  What could be improved: We liked everything but our personal preference would be to have some nightstands by the beds in both bedrooms.

  What could be improved: If you have any mobility issues there is a very small lift in the building, however, you will still have about four steps down after exiting the elevator door and then five steps up to apartment door.
