So here’s the thing about Capri Moon Guest House – it’s tucked away on Via Della Vigna Nuova, which honestly feels like one of those Florence streets that tourists walk past without really noticing. But that’s actually perfect, because you’re literally a two-minute walk from the madness of Via de’ Tornabuoni (where all the fancy shopping happens) while staying on this quieter side street that still has that authentic neighborhood feel.

I mean, the Santa Maria Novella area is already pretty ideal if you ask me. You’ve got the train station close enough to be practical but far enough that you’re not dealing with all that chaos, and you can walk to basically everything that matters – the Duomo, the Uffizi, those little wine bars tucked into medieval corners that make Florence actually feel magical instead of just touristy. The guest house itself has this warm, lived-in quality that a lot of places try to fake but rarely pull off. The rooms aren’t huge (this is Florence, after all – expecting American-sized spaces is just setting yourself up for disappointment), but they’re thoughtfully done with actual character. You know what I appreciated? The windows actually open properly, and during the quieter evening hours, you can hear the subtle sounds of neighborhood life – not traffic, but maybe someone’s kitchen window opening or footsteps on the old stones.

What really sold me on the place was how the staff seemed to actually know Florence, not just the standard tourist script. They pointed me toward this little osteria on Via del Sole that I never would have found otherwise, and when I mentioned wanting to see some art beyond the obvious spots, they gave me directions to Santo Spirito that avoided the main crowds entirely. The morning routine here feels relaxed too – breakfast isn’t some rushed hotel buffet situation, and you can actually sit and plan your day without feeling like you’re being shuffled along. Honestly, with an 8.6 rating, I was expecting something good, but this felt more personal than your typical four-star experience. Sure, there are fancier places in Florence, but sometimes you want to feel like you’re staying somewhere that gets the balance right – comfortable enough that you sleep well and shower happily, but connected enough to the real city that you remember you’re actually in Italy, not just some international hotel bubble.

  Our host, Franco, was easy to communicate with, he assisted with my luggage and was very kind. The apartment was very tastefully decorated. Coffee available for the mornings. The bed was very comfortable and the accommodation was also very clean. Location was perfect for walking to all sites, shops and restaurants in the heart of Florence. We highly recommend!

  Absolutely loved this apartment. A room full of character. Very spacious, comfy bed and a bath. There was a section you could sit out on the balcony and relax. Quiet rooms, literally cannot fault it.
