You know what struck me first about Cala Dei Mori? It’s actually got this understated elegance that you don’t expect from a 4-star place right on Via del Littorale. I mean, that street can get pretty busy with all the coastal traffic heading toward the port, but somehow the hotel sits back just enough that you’re not dealing with constant noise from trucks and Vespas. The building itself has this sort of weathered Mediterranean charm – not Instagram-perfect, but genuinely lived-in in the best way.

The location is honestly brilliant if you know Livorno at all. You’re literally a five-minute walk from some of the best seafood spots that locals actually eat at (not the tourist traps closer to the Fortezza Vecchia). There’s this little osteria down the street where the fishermen grab their morning coffee, and the hotel staff – who’ve clearly been there forever – will point you toward the good stuff if you ask. The rooms themselves are comfortable without being fancy, but here’s the thing: the sea-facing ones are absolutely worth the upgrade. I’m talking about waking up to actual Mediterranean views, not some sliver of blue between apartment buildings. The 8.6 rating makes sense once you’re there – everything works, the beds are solid, and the air conditioning actually keeps up with July heat.

What really sold me on this place was the breakfast situation. They set it up on this terrace that catches the morning light just right, and while it’s not some elaborate buffet, everything tastes fresh and local. The pastries come from a bakery somewhere in the neighborhood (you can tell because they’re gone by 9 AM), and the coffee is properly strong Italian coffee, not that watery hotel stuff. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle – the street spots fill up fast, especially during summer when everyone’s heading to the beaches south of town. But honestly, once you’re settled in, you might not want to drive much anyway. The whole Livorno waterfront is walkable from here, and if you’re feeling ambitious, you can catch the ferry to Capraia right from the port area. It’s one of those places where you end up staying an extra day just because leaving feels like too much effort, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need from a hotel.

  Beautiful location right at the sea side, with beautiful sunsets. Quiet and chill with enough space and sunbeds. Extremely friendly and helpful staff, they did everything to make us enjoy our stay. A broken bathroom ventilator was fixed the same day.

  Our stay was very nice. The place is cosy and quite,perfect if you want to relax and not be bothered by crowd. Location is far from the town but good bus connection with Livorno. Bus stop nearby. Bus trip takes like 25mins. Amazing view! Good contact with the hosts. Recommend!

  Wir hatten Baustelle auf Italienischer Autobahn ,mussten Umweg fahren ,hatten fast 2.5 Sdt.verspätung ,das Personal hat trotz allem Gewartet ,und Uns auch noch begrüßt, da wir es schon nach Mitternacht ,sehr gutes Personal ,und sehr freundlich ,trotz all dem Caos ,gerne wieder

  Der direkte Meerblick war einfach toll. Wir konnten meist draußen essen und draußen so sitzen.
  
  What could be improved: Es war direkt an der Straße und teils etwas laut. Zum Einkaufen musste man immer mit dem Auto fahren. Um ins Wasser zu gehen braucht man Badeschuhe.

  Unser Aufenthalt war einfach nur traumhaft schön. Das Zimmer mit Meerblick war wirklich wunderschön und die Sonnenterrasse zum Sonnen, Frühstücken und Abendessen war ein wirkliches Highlight. Ein kleines Stück von dem Stadtrubel entfernt findet man hier wirklich Ruhe und Erholung. Der Unterkunfts eigene Strand ist auch mehr als ausreichend. Da wir mit Rädern unterwegs waren konnten wir sie ganz einfach neben der Unterkunft absperren wo sie sicher verwahrt waren. Ein Plus ist auch der Parkplatz der inklusive ist und mit einem Tor verschlossen ist, sodass das Auto sicher verwahrt ist. Das Personal war mehr als freundlich und gab uns viele coole Tipps wo man beispielsweise eine Radtour machen kann. Wir kommen gerne wieder 🙂
