You know what caught me off guard about Borgo Bucciano? I was expecting another cookie-cutter Tuscan hotel, but this place actually feels like someone’s very elegant country home that just happens to take guests. It’s tucked away on this quiet stretch of Via Bucciano – honestly, you might drive past it if you’re not paying attention, which is sort of the point. San Miniato isn’t exactly crawling with tourists like Florence or Siena, and that’s exactly why staying here works so well.

The property itself has this understated confidence that I really appreciate. The rooms aren’t trying to scream “TUSCANY!” at you with fake rustic everything, but they’ve got character – actual old beams, windows that frame the rolling hills perfectly, and bathrooms that feel modern without being sterile. I mean, it’s a proper 4-star place, so everything works like it should, but there’s this lived-in quality that makes you want to actually relax instead of just taking Instagram photos. The staff genuinely seems to know the area too, which matters more than you’d think. They pointed me toward this little osteria in the old town center that I never would have found otherwise – the kind of place where locals go for lunch and don’t bother with English menus.

What really sold me on the place was how quiet it gets at night. You’re close enough to town that you can walk to dinner (though honestly, having a car makes way more sense for exploring the region), but far enough out that you’re not dealing with any street noise or late-night chaos. The whole borgo has this peaceful evening rhythm where you can actually hear the countryside settling down. And here’s something practical nobody mentions – parking is easy and included, which if you’ve ever tried to park in medieval Italian town centers, you’ll understand why that’s huge. The breakfast is solid too, nothing fancy but proper coffee and local stuff that tastes like it’s actually from the area rather than shipped in from some distributor. San Miniato’s famous for truffles, and you can tell they lean into that local connection without being obnoxious about it. It’s the kind of place where you end up staying an extra night because leaving feels like too much work, and honestly, that’s exactly what happened to me.

  Just 40 min drive from Pisa, but feels like in the middle of nowhere. Breathtaking view from the pool, very clean and well-kept pool area, you can watch sunsets. The room was clean and kitchen was well equipped. Nearby a lovely town of San Miniato. Not a long drive to Florence. Option to buy breakfast for 8 eur per person

  I recently had the pleasure of staying at this wonderful apartment in Tuscany, and I can't recommend it enough. Great location with beautiful view of the surrounding hills and lush landscapes. The apartment itself is beautifully designed, combining rustic charm with modern amenities. It was spacious, clean, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay.
