The lobby smells faintly of leather and that particular Italian coffee that’s somehow always perfect, and honestly, after dragging my suitcase through cobblestone streets all morning, walking into that air-conditioned calm felt like pure relief.

What actually makes this place special isn’t just the aparthotel setup (though having a proper kitchenette when you’re staying more than a few days is a game-changer), it’s how they’ve managed to nail that sweet spot between feeling authentically Florentine and being genuinely comfortable for travelers. The rooms are spacious by European standards – I could actually unpack without playing suitcase Tetris – and the beds are properly firm, not that mushy hotel standard that leaves you aching. The staff clearly know their neighborhood inside out; they pointed me toward this little trattoria on Via Nazionale that I never would’ve found otherwise, and when I mentioned wanting to see the Oltrarno district, the guy at reception drew me a route that avoided the tourist crush around Ponte Vecchio entirely.

Here’s the thing about the Campo Di Marte area that guidebooks don’t really capture – it’s where Florence starts feeling like a real city instead of an open-air museum. You’ll hear Italian being spoken more than English, there’s actually decent parking nearby (miracle in Florence), and the morning sounds are church bells and delivery trucks rather than tour groups. The 9.4 rating makes total sense when you experience it; it’s not flashy or Instagram-perfect, but everything just works the way it should. The Wi-Fi is actually fast, the shower has proper water pressure, and checkout was refreshingly painless. I’d definitely stay here again, especially if I was planning to explore beyond the main tourist circuit – though you’re still close enough to walk to the Duomo when the mood strikes.

  Huge apartment! Very comfortable bed. Staff were very helpful. The kitchen and bathroom were well equipped and there was a comfortable sofa where we could watch TV. It was about 25 minutes walk from Santa Maria Novella Train Station. Very quiet neighbourhood.
