Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about Armonie di Villa Incontri? It’s tucked away on this quiet residential street in Careggi-Rifredi, and honestly, I almost walked right past it – which is actually perfect because it means you’re not dealing with tourist crowds stumbling around outside. The building itself has that understated Florentine elegance where you can tell someone really cared about the details without shouting about it.
The owners (and I mean this in the best way) are exactly the kind of people you want running a B&B – they actually live there and know every bus route, every decent aperitivo spot, and which mornings the local market is worth visiting. I stayed there last spring, and the woman who checked me in spent maybe ten minutes just casually drawing on a map, marking places I’d never find in a guidebook. The breakfast setup is in this sun-filled room that overlooks a small garden, and they do this thing where they bring out different local pastries each morning – not just the same cornetti every day like most places. The coffee is proper Italian strong, which sounds obvious but trust me, some places even in Florence manage to mess this up.
What really sets this place apart is the location knowledge you get. Sure, you’re not in the centro storico, but you’re maybe fifteen minutes by bus to the Duomo, and the neighborhood itself is where actual Florentines live. There’s this little osteria about two blocks away that I never would have found otherwise, and the hosts just mentioned it in passing like “oh, if you want dinner tonight…” The rooms are genuinely comfortable – I mean, the bed was one of those where you actually sleep well, not just survive the night – and everything feels clean without that sterile hotel vibe. The shower pressure is solid (yes, this matters), and they’ve got good WiFi throughout, which I appreciated for planning day trips.
The whole experience feels less like staying at a hotel and more like crashing at your well-connected friend’s place. I remember one morning asking about getting to Fiesole, and instead of just saying “take the bus,” they explained which stop to get off at for the best views on the way up, and mentioned that Tuesday mornings are quieter if you want to avoid the tour groups. It’s those kinds of details that make you feel like you’re actually experiencing Florence rather than just checking it off a list. The 9.4 rating makes complete sense – it’s not trying to be fancy, it’s just really, really good at being what it is.

Armonie di Villa Incontri was incomparable. The owner, Roberto, was welcoming, friendly, and very generous, and graciously supported our late check in after our flight was delayed. The room was spectacular, clean, and very comfortable. Our stay included a delicious breakfast that accommodated our vegetarian/vegan diets, and we spent the day admiring the idyllic grounds. I can't rate this B&B, and its owners, highly enough.
