Anglo American Hotel Florence, Curio Collection By Hilton
Florence, ItalyYou know what struck me first about the Anglo American Hotel Florence? It’s tucked away on Via Solferino, which honestly feels like you’ve discovered something the crowds haven’t figured out yet. I mean, you’re literally a three-minute walk from Santa Maria Novella station – and I’m talking about the kind of walk where you’re not dragging your suitcase over cobblestones for blocks. But here’s the thing that really got me: step outside and you’re in this surprisingly quiet pocket of the city, away from the tourist chaos around the Duomo.
The building itself has this understated elegance that feels authentically Florentine without trying too hard. Walking through the lobby, there’s this sense of old-world sophistication that doesn’t scream “look at me” – it’s more like discovering a well-kept secret. The rooms are spacious by European standards (and trust me, after staying in some shoebox hotels in Rome, this matters), with these gorgeous high ceilings that make you feel like you’re staying in an actual palazzo rather than just another chain hotel. The Curio Collection branding is subtle here, which I appreciated – it feels like they let the building’s character shine through instead of plastering everything with corporate touches.
What really impressed me was how the staff seemed to actually know Florence, not just the hotel. When I asked about getting to the Oltrarno district, the concierge didn’t just point me toward the Ponte Vecchio with the rest of the tourists – he suggested cutting through the smaller streets near Santo Spirito, which honestly gave me a completely different perspective on the city. The location is sort of perfect if you think about it: you’re close enough to walk to the Uffizi or Palazzo Pitti without feeling like you’re camping out in the middle of a Renaissance theme park. And parking – well, if you’re brave enough to drive in Florence, there’s actually a garage nearby, though I’d still recommend just taking the train in.
The neighborhood around Santa Maria Novella has this lived-in quality that I love. There’s a little alimentari around the corner where locals actually shop, and you’ll hear real conversations in Italian over your morning coffee instead of cameras clicking. Honestly, staying here felt like I was visiting Florence rather than just checking it off a list. The 8.7 rating makes sense – it’s not trying to be the flashiest place in town, but everything works exactly as it should, and sometimes that’s exactly what you want after a long day of navigating Renaissance masterpieces and tourist crowds.

Guest Reviews
What could be improved: The size of the room.
The staff were all amazing from the bell staff, to reception, to the restaurant and bar attendants, truly everyone. A special mention to Beatrice, Reservations Supervisor, for the extra attention and care for my stay. I even left my blazer in my room and she has been so helpful! Also, General Manager, Marco, grazie mille for everything.
I highly recommend this hotel!
The staff were beyond exceptional: warm, attentive, and genuinely dedicated to making every moment of our stay unforgettable. They offered fantastic recommendations, helped with reservations, and always greeted us with a smile.
The rooms were beautifully appointed, spotlessly clean, and full of character, blending classic Florentine charm with modern comfort. And the service? Flawless from start to finish.
If you're looking for elegance, comfort, and top-tier hospitality in the very center of Florence—this is the place. Highly, highly recommended!
The breakfast at this hotel truly exceeded my expectations. There was a wide variety of high-quality options, both sweet and savory, including fresh pastries, seasonal fruit, eggs, cheeses, and local specialties. Everything was beautifully presented and constantly replenished.
The coffee was excellent—better than in most cafés! I really appreciated the attention to detail and the warm, attentive service from the staff. Starting the day with such a delicious and well-organized breakfast made a real difference to my stay. Highly recommended!
What could be improved: Couldn’t figure out air so we just opened window and it was fine. But to be fair I did not ask for help with that. I’m sure the front staff would of helped, they helped with everything else and were very nice,
What could be improved: Nothing
What could be improved: The location and the lift was small
What could be improved: breakfast time was a bit busy with scarce staff serving coffee and tea. I would suggest them to place a coffee machine and hot water outside the kitchen for guests to serve themselves
What could be improved: Strangely, There are webs iwhite color inside packaged snacks of the minibar
