Allegroitalia San Gallo Firenze
Florence, ItalyYou know what struck me first about the Allegroitalia San Gallo? It’s got this perfectly balanced vibe – upscale enough that you feel a bit fancy walking through the lobby, but not so precious that you’re worried about scuffing the marble with your walking shoes. The location on Via Lorenzo Il Magnifico is honestly brilliant if you know Florence at all. You’re basically a ten-minute stroll from Santa Maria Novella station (super handy when you’re dragging luggage), but you’re also right in that sweet spot where you can duck into the Central Market for morning coffee without fighting through the Duomo crowds.
The rooms have this modern Italian thing going on – clean lines, good lighting, and actually comfortable beds, which I mean, isn’t always a given in historic Italian cities where some hotels seem to think charm trumps a decent night’s sleep. The staff really knows their stuff too. When I mentioned wanting to hit the Oltrarno district for dinner, the concierge didn’t just point me toward the obvious spots but actually suggested this little place near Santo Spirito that turned out to be perfect. That’s the kind of local insight you hope for but don’t always get. The breakfast setup is solid – nothing revolutionary, but proper coffee (this is Italy, after all) and fresh pastries that actually taste like they came from a real bakery, not some industrial kitchen.
What I really appreciated was how the hotel handles the whole Florence experience without making you feel like you’re staying in a tourist trap. The neighborhood has this lived-in quality – you’ll see actual Florentines picking up groceries and heading to work, not just endless streams of tour groups. The Via Nazionale is right there when you need to grab essentials, and honestly, the walk to places like the Accademia or even the Ponte Vecchio is totally doable if you don’t mind a little exercise. The rooms facing the courtyard are quieter if you’re sensitive to street noise, though Florence isn’t exactly Rome when it comes to traffic chaos. Check-in was smooth, and they actually remembered preferences from night to night – small touches that make a difference when you’re trying to feel settled somewhere new. For a four-star place, it delivers on that promise without trying too hard to impress you with unnecessary flourishes.

Guest Reviews
What could be improved: The location is just a bit far from the train station and city center. You need to walk around 15-20 mins from the train station. But obviously with the public transportation it would be much quicker.
What could be improved: Nothing to fault.
What could be improved: The room is too Orange and the a/c smells a little bit to humedity
What could be improved: As an older person, too far to walk to downtown Florence and the train station. If I was younger or in better shape, I'm sure this wouldn't be a consideration. I was told by the very kind front desk staff that there is an nearby trolley stop to train station.
The hotel is a lovely building, the garden is beautiful surrounded by Jasmin and the scent will forever remind me of Florence.
The Reception staff are very kind and helpful. On the day we arrived I did not like the room, although my husband was happy. Thomoso changed the room immediately, the new room was gorgeous.
On the day we checked out we still had a few hours before our train back to Rome,Alex kindly offered to look after the luggage whilst we enjoyed the beautiful sights of Florence.
Breakfast was lovely with lots of variety, the orange juice is made fresh regularly in the morning.
Sergio and his colleagues in the restaurant are doing a great job.
Sergio makes the best cappucino.
Thank you everyone.
What could be improved: The carpets in the corridors are looking tired and worn and could do with a good clean.
What could be improved: It might look kinda old from the outside but it seems they have had some remodeling in the inside, which was a good surprise.
What could be improved: Nothing
