Here’s the thing about staying in Santa Maria Novella — you’re literally in the beating heart of Florence, and I mean that in the best possible way. From Alinari Apartment, I could walk to the Duomo in about eight minutes (I timed it), and the train station is practically around the corner if you need to catch a day trip to Siena or Pisa. What really impressed me was how quiet the street actually is, despite being so central. You get all the convenience without the constant noise of tour groups marching past your window at dawn.

The Space

The room I stayed in was more spacious than I expected — these aren’t your typical cramped European hotel quarters. The layout felt thoughtful, with enough storage space that I could actually unpack for a few days. I particularly appreciated the modern touches they’ve added while keeping some of the original architectural details. The bathroom was well-designed too, with good water pressure (trust me, this matters after a long day of museum hopping). The air conditioning worked perfectly, which was a relief during my July visit when Florence was basically an outdoor oven.

Practical Perks

What sets this place apart is how they’ve thought about what travelers actually need. The Wi-Fi was consistently strong throughout the building — I could video call home without any issues. There’s also a small kitchenette area that’s genuinely useful if you want to grab groceries from the nearby Mercato Centrale and have a quiet breakfast before hitting the tourist sites. The staff was helpful without being overly formal, and they gave me some solid recommendations for dinner spots that weren’t just the obvious tourist traps.

  located in a great spot with train stion a short walk and a supermarket next door, perfect. The central food market a short walk down the road and a laundromat just a block away. Easy to get to a lot of places.

  This location was excellent! It was close to the train station (2 minute walk), public bus, hop on-hop off bus, a n 8 minute walk to the Florence Cathedral and most other sights. You are close shopping, a grocery store, a fantastic cafe is literally next door, and the Central Market. The place was clean and everything worked fine.

  Location is the best, 2 mins from Santa Maria Train Station, Alinari Cafe across had great breakfast options and McDonald's downstairs. Even though it is a busy area, we felt very safe travelling with kids.

  Air conditioner worked great in both the rooms. There is an elevator we appreciated. House was clean.
  Convenience store right below the apartment, so easy access to everything. But it also meant noise of delivery truck in morning for 1 bedroom that faced the street but kids were too tired to get bothered in our case.

  My family and I of 4 stayed for 3 nights in mid Sept 23. This property was so near the main train station and within walking distances to areas we wanted to visit. The apartment was very clean and comfortable for us. The supermarket is just below and it made grocery shopping a pleasure. Daniella was very kind and let us check into the apartment at 2.30pm instead of 3pm.
