Hotel Description

You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Agriturismo Quarantallina – I mean, you’re basically driving through endless Tuscan countryside south of Siena, and then suddenly there’s this gorgeous stone farmhouse sitting among olive groves like it’s been there forever. Which, honestly, it probably has. The whole place feels authentically rural in a way that’s getting harder to find, especially this close to the Val d’Orcia (you’re literally 10 minutes from those postcard-perfect rolling hills everyone goes crazy for on Instagram).

What really got me was how the family running this place actually lives the agriturismo lifestyle – this isn’t some corporate hotel pretending to be rustic. They’re producing their own olive oil, and you can smell it during harvest season in late October. The rooms are that perfect balance of keeping the old stone walls and wooden beams while actually having decent Wi-Fi and proper bathrooms. I stayed in one of the upstairs rooms, and honestly, waking up to those views across the valley with morning mist… well, it’s pretty hard to beat. The breakfast situation is legit too – fresh ricotta, local honey, and this incredible jam they make from their own fruit trees. Fair warning though: if you’re expecting a buzzy social scene, this isn’t your place. It’s quiet here, properly quiet, which I loved but some people might find too sleepy.

The location is actually brilliant if you know how to work it. Sure, Buonconvento itself is tiny – basically one main street with a few good restaurants and that’s it – but you’re positioned perfectly for day trips. Montalcino is maybe 20 minutes away, and you can hit Pienza and Montepulciano easily. Plus, being off the main tourist trail means you can actually find parking in these hill towns, which anyone who’s driven around here in summer will tell you is worth its weight in gold. The only real downside? You definitely need a car – there’s no walking to dinner unless you want to hike down to town, and good luck getting a taxi out here. But honestly, that’s part of the charm. This is proper countryside living, just with really nice sheets and someone else making your breakfast.

  • Very good – Marvin from United States – 21 April 2024 (8/10)

Location was awesome, view was amazing. Staff was great and accommodating. The included breakfast was so delicious with fresh baked bread and good quality cheese and ham. And we loved the doggies, Luna and Nettuno.

What could be improved: The electrical power went off from some outlets and some lights and the heater, probably due to overload and faulty wiring. But that prevented us from charging our phones. No coffee cups inside the room.

  • Beatiful setting, very clean and comfortable bed. – Anna from United States – 12 April 2024 (10/10)

The setting was beautiful. The pool was clean and nice. The mattress and pillow were very comfortable.

What could be improved: The bathroom was small and the toilet was tricky to flush well.

    The view is spectacular.
The breakfast was rich and fresh.
    The bed was comfortable.
    Helpful owner.

What could be improved: The bedroom was small.
The bathroom was very basic (not like in the pictures) – no bath, just curtains
No potable water we had to buy mineral water from the owner.

  • Great experience! – Marta from Portugal – 7 October 2023 (10/10)

It was a great stay, landscapes were marvelous, everything around was dreamy, the view from our room was beautiful, room was very comfy, we had great night of rest there… then, we had delicious breakfast outside. The host was also so nice to get us a dinner reservation in a nearby restaurant, which was a great experience too. Totally recommend and plan to return!

  • Really nice property , you won’t be disappointed if you wish to the Tuscan experience – Stephan from Canada – 5 October 2023 (8/10)

The property is on a high hill top , but easy to get to. The view into the valley is stunning especially when enjoying the delicious breakfast in the garden every morning . The foliage is stunning even in October. Our room was one of the smaller ones but also comfortable , but there are larger more modern rooms available . Day trips to other Tuscan small towns is only an hour away especially if you like driving the winding roads . Our host Sarena was very welcoming and did her best to accommodate us .

  • Great place to enjoy quiet vacation – Heesook from South Korea – 17 July 2023 (10/10)

It was a calm farmhouse. We had good rest during our vacation in Italy. I could see beautiful night sky & animals were also adorable. My 7 year old daughter loved swimming pool and animals. Serena and Mario was very kind and the dinner prepared by Serena was impressive 🙂 Also nearby horse school gave us another good memory!

  • Magical place capturing the essence of Tuscany! – Marius from Lithuania – 24 October 2022 (10/10)

This place is special! The location, the views, the buildings, rooms, common areas create this magical atmosphere! This place was created by love and lots of hard work by the hosts who are wonderful too.

What could be improved: Nothing to mention
