You know what struck me first about Agriturismo La Poderina? The smell – I mean that in the best possible way. There’s this mix of lavender, rosemary, and old stone that hits you the moment you step out of your car. It’s tucked away on this quiet road just outside Bagno Vignoni, and honestly, if you’re not looking for it, you’ll probably drive right past. But that’s sort of the point, isn’t it?

The building itself is classic Tuscan farmhouse – thick walls, weathered shutters, the kind of place that’s been here longer than most countries have existed. What gets me is how they’ve kept it feeling authentic without making you suffer for it. Sure, the rooms have that rustic charm with exposed beams and terracotta floors, but the beds are actually comfortable (you’d be surprised how many agriturismos miss this mark), and the bathrooms work properly. I stayed in October, which is perfect timing – warm enough for their outdoor terrace but not so hot that you’re melting into the ancient stone steps.

The family running it clearly knows their stuff. During breakfast, the owner casually mentioned the best time to visit the thermal baths in Bagno Vignoni (early morning before the tour buses arrive – trust me on this), and pointed out a hiking trail that’s not in any guidebook but leads to this incredible viewpoint over the Val d’Orcia. Their restaurant… well, let’s just say I extended my stay partly because of their pici cacio e pepe. It’s that simple pasta dish that seems easy until you try making it yourself and realize there’s actual skill involved. They source everything locally – not in that performative farm-to-table way, but because that’s literally how they’ve always done it.

What really sold me was the evening routine. Around sunset, guests naturally gravitate toward the garden area where there are these old wooden tables scattered under olive trees. No one organizes it, it just happens. You’ll find yourself sharing wine with a couple from Germany or getting restaurant recommendations from locals who’ve been coming here for years. The wifi works if you need it (though honestly, you won’t want to), and there’s enough space that you can disappear with a book if that’s more your speed.

The only thing I’d warn you about – and this is hardly a complaint – is that once you’re here, you won’t want to do the typical tourist circuit. Pienza and Montalcino are close enough for day trips, but I found myself canceling plans just to hang around the property. There’s something about the pace of this place that makes rushing around to check boxes feel completely wrong. Book the dinner at least once, bring comfortable walking shoes for the trails, and don’t plan too much. That 9.5 rating isn’t inflated – it’s just what happens when someone gets hospitality exactly right.

  We loved everything about the property- from the rustic style room, to the location and the pool. It was the perfect place for our time in Tuscany, away from the crowds of the main cities while traveling throughout Italy. It exceeded our expectations in every way.
  
  We can’t fault the hosts, they were very friendly and check in was a breeze. They made us feel right at home, checked in to make sure we had everything we needed, and shared their homegrown plums with us, which were absolutely delicious.
  
  This place is highly recommended. We had such an amazing time, and will definitely be back the next time we are in Italy.

  Staying at this beautiful rustic retreat in Tuscany was an absolute dream come true. Everything was just as I had imagined – and somehow even more stunning in person. The setting was peaceful, with rolling hills, charming stone buildings, and breathtaking views that looked like they were straight out of a postcard.
  
  The accommodation had that perfect blend of authenticity and comfort. From the warm, cozy interiors to the quiet mornings spent sipping coffee with a view, every moment felt special and relaxed.
  
  The owners were incredibly welcoming and kind. Even though we didn’t speak the same language, communication was easy and smooth thanks to Google Translate. They went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed and felt at home.
  
  I would not hesitate for a second to recommend this place to anyone looking for a true Tuscan experience. It’s the kind of place you’ll want to and I hope to someday.

  Tiziana is so sweet, she greeted us warmly and gave us infos about many beautiful places in the surrounding area of Val d'Orcia. The location is in the middle of the countryside, you have Bagno Vignoni right next to it, the old walled village San Quirico to the northwest about 15min driving, Cipressi about 20min, the town Pienza to the northeast, thermal baths of Bagno San Filipo to the south about 15min, etc. There is also a nice pool and a lawn in the backyard with a beautiful sunrise view and dark enough in the night so that we could stare at stars. And don't forget to taste the best picci at the restaurant Vecchia Stazione 3 steps next door.

  We were excited with our appartman The Stable! It was very comfortable for us and our dog – dwarf poodle apricot. All you need was there! The location was the best you are looking for your stay in the heart of Tuscanu in Val d'Orcia! And the view on Poggio Covili on East side and Bagno Vignoni on the West – georgeous bonus! Tiziana and her husband were so helpful and are beautiful personality. There was full moon during our stay there so we named our 6 days holiday there as Honey Moon. Excited!

  We love this true experience of a quiet medieval agriturismo close to the Bagno Vignoni thermal baths and ancient Roman trails to hike on . We were also surrounded by scenic views . Our stay was comfortable and our host , Tiziana was extremely warm and helpful. We had some car rental issues but she was kind enough to arrange some transportation for us with the help of google translate. We will never forget our remarkable stay .
